If you are planning on breeding her you can buy "doggie diapers" made specifically for dogs in heat, and be sure to keep her on leash at all times... they can tie through fences, and regardless of size they can usually still mate (which can actually put your corgi in danger). If you're not planning on breeding her then i would get her spayed ASAP (once she's out of heat). Spaying her reduces her risk of developing mammory cancer and pyometras (infected uterus) later in life. If she's spayed between her 1st and second cycles you cut the mammory cancer risk by about 90%. Good Luck!

You need to keep your female dog confined and away from all male dogs during the time she is spotting blood and for at least 21 days AFTER you see the first blood. Otherwise you will end up with an accidental litter of mixed breed puppies. My advice since females come in breeding season two times a year for at least three weeks each time would be as soon as this season is overwith to take her to the vet and have her spayed so you don't have to deal with the blood and the whining and also the false pregnancies that some unspayed girls have. Good luck!

Get her fixed as soon as she has gone out of season. You will need to make note of the last day you see blood and let the vet know so they can figure out when to spay her. Even though she will stop bleeding she will still be in season for a while after and you can't get her fixed during this time. Be careful because males can smell her in heat and will get to her one way or another. So call your vet and set up an appointment. The vet will also tell you if your not going to breed her it's better to get her spayed because there will less chance of cancer.

Get her spayed. It will be the best money ever spent. No heat cycles (they are not called periods in dogs), no mess to worry about, no risk of cancer, no risk of uterine infections, no risk of accidental pregnacy. All around, you will have a much healthier dog. You will have absolutely no reason to regret it.
You do not have to wait for her to go out of heat before spaying her. Dogs can be spayed during heat. As long as she is healthy on her exam, you can have it done right away.

I would suggest getting her fixed. That will take care of both problems. If you can't or won't do this, then you will want to keep her inside when she's in heat. You can also get little diapers or pants that they make for female dogs in heat to keep things clean. Again... getting her fixed would be the best and easiest remedy and then you won't have to worry about contributing to dog overpopulation.

Don't let her outside when you aren't able to watch her. I would definitely recommend getting her fixed though, especially if you don't want puppies. If you decide to get her fixed, then you might have to wait until she's done. You could try and get her fixed now, but a lot of vets will charge more when the dog is in heat because it's more difficult and more messy to do when they are in heat. Good luck!

I have seen one of my friends dogs with a diper specifically for that. Maybe you can see aabout one at a local pet store. You should probably even ask your vet. Anothing thing about her periods, unless you are going to breed her you should get her spayed because later on if she hasn't tried to reproduce it can cause cancer and all sort of other problems. And as for the male their really is nothing you can do about him. That is in his nature to do that sort of thing.

Gte her fixed duh. And if she comes in to season before you fix her keep your eyes on her 24/7. And if you cant do that, then lock her up when you cant watch her. For 21 days as this is the (normal) lengh of a dogs period.
