im 5'8 108lbs 17 years old female...i exercise 30 mins or a lil more everyday
right now im eating 2000 calories

how many calories should i be eating to maintain my weight and how many to gain weight??

to maintain your weight you should eat approximately 1777 calories a day, assuming you sleep eight hours and attend school. to gain weight i would say roughly 2100-2500 a day.

If you want to gain weight you need to eat more than you burn. A pound is 3,500 calories so if you are running 30 mins a day you are burning between 250-550 calories a day depending on your intensity and this is not including your BMR (basal metabolic rate). If you want to maintain your weight you need to make sure you don't burn too many calories or too little. Your BMR is about 1370 calories a day. So you are burning about 1500-1800 calories a day including your BMR and your running. If you want to stay at your weight, 2000 calorie diet sounds good. If you increase your calorie intake, you will gain weight because you won't be burning more or the same amount of calories.

So in short, increase your calorie intake to maybe 2200 if you want to gain weight, since you burn about 1500-1800, which leaves 400-700 calories left and after a week will add up to around a pound. Stay at yoru calorie intake or decrease it slightly to stay at your weight.

Sounds right to me.... the minimum would be 1200 calories and you're skinny and still developing.

i think yr eating fine. im about 5'4 (yah im short for my age)and weigh 100lbs,so yr good.

Also it depends on wat you eat not always how many calories u eat.
