We walk through automatic doors at the store, use automatic flush toilets in public places, wear bluetooth earpieces rather than carry our cell phones, don't take the time to use common manners like please and thank you, use the drive through at the fast food restaraunts, and drive around looking for a close parking space rather than just park a little further out, email instead of handwrite letters, throw trash on the ground rather than use the nearby bin. I don't do any of these myself other than the automatic door and toilet but it seems everything is set up for people to be lazy?

People are wanting everything in an instant. We have lost patience.

Its not a matter of people being lazy, its a matter of being more efficient in todays society. If you care to do everything the long way, then that's your problem. I'm living in today's society and I'm just along for the ride. Its called technological advances....you have to start getting used to it. It doesn't mean americans are getting more lazy, it means they're getting smarter. And if you choose to send a handwritten letter that will take days to get somewhere rather than having an e-mail get to its destination instantaneously, then you might need to re-evaluate the way you go about doing things. Bluetooth headpieces only make the common business person accomplish more at the same time, its called multitasking. And when you think about it, all those things you listed take little to no effort anyway...so essentially you're argument is flawed and contains no legitimate reasons why we are the laziest society. Every major city in the world has toilets and doors that operate automatically. You should really be aiming your argument towards Japan...since they're actually the most technologically advanced country in the world. And this might seem like a shock to you....but they have drive throughs in every country. So basically, your message has failed to state any reason why we're lazy...its just filled with erroneous drivel that would make any person dumber for reading it.

I'm all for gadgets that make life easier, but I agree on you about littering, finding the closest parking space etc, those kind of habits are lazy and annoying. I guess a lot of people just don't care anymore about what they're doing to the environment, and also they feel some kind of competative thing about getting closer/nearer/first in line.
I'll gladly use automatic doors & email etc, but I never litter and I don't even own a car!

YOUNG PEOPLE NOW DONT KNOW THE MULTIPLICATION TABLE, I DONT THINK. DISCIPLINE SEEMS RATHER SLACK. MANY OF THE YOUNG PEOPLE HAVE CARS THAT ARE NEW MODELS WITHOUT HAVING TO LIFT A FINGER TO GET THEM AND LIKE YOU SAY THEY THROW TRASH ON THE FLOOR OR LEAVE IT LYING ON A TABLE OR WHEREVER. EVERYTHING ISNT NEGATIVE BUT THERE SEEMS TO BE A LOT OF SLACK AS IF MANY INDIVIDUALS AUTOMATICALLY EXPECT AN INHERITANCE WITHOUT EARNING SUCH. MAYBE INHERITANCE LAWS SHOULD BE CHANGED SO YOUNG PEOPLE HAVE TO PERFORM AND SHOW RESPECT FOR MONEY.INSTEAD OF HAVING IT DUMPED IN THEIR POSSESSION WITHOUT EARNING IT.
