They are a necessary evil. The alternative is anarchy, which works theoretically if you can get everyone to agree on the same principles and if everyone is mutually willing to give their lives to fight an unjust authority. But many people are weak and can't agree on that, and so the risk of an unjust authority is too great. As a result, it is necessary to designate a civilian authority authorized to use force on behalf of everyone else. The police are that force. Without them, the use of force by illegitimate elements would reign supreme to the detriment of us all.

Police are for our benefit. Othewise, the amount of crime would be outlandishly beyond what it is now. The Bible says we are to follow the laws of our land.

The police as a whole are not evil.
I have yet to hear a better idea or system, but if you have one...fire away.

I, for one, am sick and tired of the lack of respect shown for our country's police officers. where the hell would any of you in need be if there were no 911 to call?

YEAH, because without them no one would commit any crimes, right?
Cause crime would not exist without authority.
Seems the way you're thinking anyway.
