I remember seeing a chart or formula somewhere that would tell you how many calories a person should consume to achive a certain weight loss. It required your current weight and the amount you wanted to lose. I'm helping my best friend lose weight and need a guide to make up her meal plan, so I need to know how many calories she should have each day.

You times your current weight by 10 calories per pound. Example: if you are now 200 lbs. it would be 200 times 10= 2000 calories. This is the amount of calories you need to consume each day to stay at your present weight.
If you want to lose weight you would minus 500 calories per day leaving you 1500 calories per day to eat.
It's not a good idea to go below this number. Remember to eat five small 300 calorie meals instead of three 500 calorie meals. Eating more frequently revs up your metabolism helping you to use the food you eat in a more productive way.Don't forget to drink water, lots and lots of water, your body needs it for digestion and to flush out the toxins that you've accumulated.
