You need to contact them. I once had federal juty duty and had a similar problem... it took a 5 minute phone call to get it cleared up.

Jury Duty Out Of Country

It is your duty to notify the court that you are not available for jury duty. If necessary, hire an attorney to draft a letter to the Federal, state, county, or city that has served you with Jury Duty Notice explaining your circumstances and asking that you be excused from jury duty. This one notification will not absolve you from receiving another Jury Duty Notice to serve on another jury. Within the period of eight years, I was called to jury duty three times.

Failure on your part to notify someone is not acceptable, no matter the reason. You may be liable for a fine and possibly imprisonment.

Maintaining a "free" country, actually a democratic republic does require some action on the part of its citizens. Paying taxes, volunteering for military, jury duty, voting - all are necessary to keep this country the way it is (or, at least, should be).

You should go to the Jury selection board in your city or county and show them proof of your need to travel frequently. Then you should ask them to let you pick the dates for your jury duty because you WANT to do your civic duty.

Make arrangements to do you civic duty as a citizen. Call the jury office and let them know when you can make it. Just had it myself last month and only was there for a day. From the sounds of it you will probably get dismissed anyway.

Send a certified letter and explain the reason. I would do a follow up call. They should let you out. My dad is hard of hearing. I wrote a letter and he got out of it.
