sounds like either your alternator,a/c,or power steering pump is locking up and needs replaced to stop tearing the belt.open the hood and turn all the little pulleys and see if 1 is frozen.all should turn freely but the big one on the bottom.which ever 1 doesn't turn is what needs replaced

A serpentine belt isn't the comparable as a timing belt. The serpentine belt is a belt that runs the water pump, air con pump, smog pump, and alternator, particularly of two or 3 different belts working those issues. The timing belt is extremely considerable and in the journey that your vehicle has that many miles on it you would be clever to have it replaced. If that belt could wreck you're finding at $one thousand. in upkeep. a sparkling timing belt interest is extremely intense priced yet o.k. fairly actually worth the fee.

Could be a pulley on any belt driven accessories freezing up, or it could be an idler pully that's froze up causing the belt to slide around the pulley and overheating the belt causing it to break. So since the belt broke, try spinning all of the pulleys on the accessories and the idler pulleys to see if they're all spinning free. If not, you may have a misaligned pulley.

Either one of your pulley's isn't turning causing the belt to overheat and break or your adjustment was too tight. Either way, I'd give your mechanic a hard time over that happening. There's no excuse for that happening. Before the belt snapped, did you smell burning rubber or did it just break? Is you smelt burning rubber, you got a bad pulley on a pump somewhere on your engine. If you didn't, mechanic error and you got a warranty case on your hands.

THE POWER STEERING PUMP PULLEY IS USUALLY BENT BUT THE IDLER PULLEY OR THE TENSIONER COULD BE OUT OF LINE
