I went there and had a BLAST! I highly recommend going on a day cruise. You go snokeling, and in mine, we hiked up a really cool mountain to a waterfall, had lunch on the island, and got really wasted on the way back. Definatly visit the spot where Night of the Iguanas (I think thats what its called) was filmed. Enjoy the local spots. Hang with the locals. It is a very very fun time... Enjoy!!

No one mentioned but the Boardwalk along the waterfront. Great Street entertainment free or by donation. Sand scuptures. Night time stuff. Lots of bars and eating places. Bull Fights on Wednesday night. Cabs are cheap just a couple dollars to most places City Buses are even cheaper. If you like a fancy meal for suppertime you could go to the El Panorama You can see it from nearly anywhere downtown and up on the top of the building eat overlooking the town and bay then watch for then the sun meets the water there is suppose to be a Green Twinkle or something.

You want to visit something unique in Puerto Vallarta go to Chicos Paradise...its AMAZING!!! Chico's is a restaurant in the middle of the freaking jungle surrounded by waterfalls. You can also go down to the waterfalls and streams and just swim or chill in caves. It's the experience of a lifetime! Also, make sure you hit up clubs like Carlos O'Brians and the Zoo. Have sooo much fun!

If you want unique and off the beaten path, try the botanical gardens, 12 miles south of town. Over 3000 species of plants on 24 acres. 50 pesos (less than $5 USD) to enter and they apply that to anything you want to order at the restaurant/full bar.
