I don't really think that, and I use the word all the time. However, when I or someone else says it, they are all like: "Aww, look a the cute little anime fans who think they're all cool just because they use the word 'kawaii.'" Okay, maybe not EXACTLY that, but you know what I mean, right? :) Anyway, what do you think of the word?

By the way, for people who don't know: Kawaii means cute in Japanese.

I figured 'kawaii' was a secret codeword to me, meaning, roughly, 'no good will come out of staying here and listening to the rest of the conversation.'

It's *beyond* overused, especially by those who probably don't even know how to write kawaii in Japanese without looking. Even Japanese schoolgirls have a bigger vocabulary for describing something and they're notorious for using "kawaii" as well.

As a serious student of Japanese, it can get really tiring to hear girls scream and yell "kawaii!" over and over again on the sole and truthful basis that they do think it's cool to use a Japanese word. The same goes for "baka" and "I am ...-chan!" (The latter grating on my ears mainly because it's not proper Japanese to use an honorific with your own name.)
It's like when you tell an [immature] person you're interested/studying in an Asian language or have an Asian friend, they almost immediately want to pull back their eyes and yell, "ching chang chong!" It's just so *predictable*.

I think it's too overused..
And it's kind of annoying.
My stupid friend always says "Ohhh, that's so kawaii"
It drives me insane.
