sending a check to collections?

I received a check drawn on a Canadian bank but in US funds. How long does it generally take to send it off for collections???

If it has a 9 digit routing number, then it is probably a check that will be paid through a US bank and will take the normal clearing time. However, if it is a true Canadian check, it can take 6-8 weeks for your bank to collect the funds.
