Interesting that I should run across your question. The first thing you need to do is go to the doctor and make sure it isn't anything serious. I had that feeling since last April. I had my tonsils removed, sinus surgery, etc. The ENT always said my throat was fine when he took a scope to check it. The feeling didn't go away after the tonsils were out so I went to a different ENT. He checked my throat and said I had a fungus growing in my throat. He put me on Diflucan for 4 weeks. After two weeks I was feeling better so went out and had some tacos and later some chocolate!! Then I really had the "thick" feeling back in my throat. I had Nexium at home that was given to me previously so started taking that. I posted a question on the internet and asked about this "lump" since it didn't go away. They suggested I take a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with water three times a day. (I guzzle it--it makes it easier!) Anyway, I went to the doctor today and he said the fungus was going away...and then said that the vinegar would kill it!! I asked how much I should take in a day and he said, "I can't prescribe vinegar...you'll have to figure that out on your own!" First, though, you need to go see a doctor. Good luck.

How old are you - this is not a trick question is it? I love being playful but on the other hand we need to figure this out. I used to have weird feelings in my esophagus and they were like icicles. So that's what I called them. Later I figured it was a young form of heartburn. On the far side people have thyroid cancer from the throat area. In any case do not ever think its too soon to ask a physician. i do not wait too long when I have a symptom before going to see my family doctor. If this continues through the weekend get off to see him.

You may have a swollen lymph node, a localized infection can cause this. It could be a cyst, a self enclosed infection. Both should be checked out by a doctor, especially since it has come and gone a few times. Something to think about: Can you see the lump? Can you touch or pinpoint exactly wear the lump is?
See a doc.

I have the same thing. It's a stress related thing... I've had it for a few days now. It's apparently supposed to take like weeks to go away! That alone is stressful to me. I just want it to go away, but I've searched the web thoroughly, and nowhere does it say how to get rid of it....

See your family doctor or any GP. There must be a reason for it. It might be a growth, and having a growth there can never be a good thing.

I answered this question...by another person approx. 2 weeks...ago, and, my answer is that ...you could have a bubble in your throat...but, your answer is different.,,as you say very uncomfortable...so, my guess is that you smoke?...if no, then maybe your glands are swollen?...if not then, you have either cancer or nerve problems

Are you a smoker?
Could be cancer of the larynx or esophagus.
Whatever it is, it's an abnormality and should be checked out.
