for example, when asked what christians would do if they found jesus' bones without a doubt, they insulted me, quoted irrelevant scripture at me, one even threatened me! Do christians really feel they are on such shaky ground that they cannot actually answer a question relating scientific possibilities to their faith?

I don't have a problem with answering you. If it was discovered that Jesus was just a man and that he died and did not rise again, I could live with that and still be a follower of His. The Christian religion would take a different turn, of course, but I think that it would still be a valid religion. The way I see it, if Jesus were only a man, He was still the greatest there ever was. I do not doubt the great feats that He did. And even if it is discovered that we all can do these things, well that is what He said wasn't it? He would have been a man way ahead of His time. He was a great teacher and philosopher and I would still follow His Way. But then I am an Episcopalian and not a Fundamentalist.

If I truly believe that they found Jesus body I would most likely look to Judaism. The Old Testament has so many things that have been proved true that I still believe in a one true God.

My only concern is how can a Jew achieve heaven? There is no temple for sacrifice and therefore no way to appease God. There is nothing in their scriptures that show what to do in this present state. There is no longer a Priestly order.

Now, having answered your question may I say that there is no way to prove without a Shadow of a doubt that a body found is Jesus'.

Though Paul Meier wrote a great book about it called "A Skeleton in God's Closet."

Ah sure: the classic Clinton flow the place you attempt to confuse the guy asking the question by utilising easily redefining words. Too undesirable Y!A Christians suck at this tactic. The rapidly answer for you is they have not any concept what they are speaking approximately. in the event that they could attempt to run circles around your head and ward off the question, then that's what they're going to do although they're going to make no sense in the technique.

I think it is you that is on shaky ground...... You don't why you were born,...... what your purpose is here on earth,...... and where you could be going, now do you? Because if you cannot honestly answer those 3 questions, than you don't know who you are. True Christians do know who they are. They are the true saints and children of God. If you are not a true child of God, than you are a child of Satan. There is no other choice. So it is you and everyone like you that is in dire need of repentance of your sins. Their are no "scientific possibilities" to our faith. Our faith is on a higher spiritual plain of which you are most definitely blind to. You cannot possibly understand the truth when you so obiously live the lie. You perceive your life and the things in it on a lower earthly plain and do not have spiritual discernment as one would who is "born of the Holy Spirit", who perceives their lives and the things in it on a higher spiritual plain. You cannot possibly see nor understand what we see and understand. You and most people like you are spiritually blind. That is why it is obvious to a true Christian that such discoveries like these are bogus and only cause to stir up tension between the truth and the lie. Satan is the god of this world who controls the media and manipulates the minds of the masses who are not of Christ. He is the one who is the enemy of Christ, not the people who are helpless to break the chains of influence that Satan has them under. Without Jesus Christ to to redeem the world from their enslavement to sin, there would be no hope for the human race to exist. We will in the very near future be on the verge of imminent annihilation and the distinction mankind notwidthstanding the Second Coming of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.....So again I say to you, we know who we are, and what we stand for.........do you?

Cuz some people act hostile over any idea they may not be right about something...

In some way I can understand...if it was proved true, for all those that would not just live in denial, it would cause such a big identity crisis. But there is no reason for them to act rude about it, none of us are the ones that are making these claims.

First of all, let me apologize for the way you were treated by the Christians you questioned. I am not sure how I would react to the finding of Jesus' bones simply because that would shake the very foundation of our faith. Ultimately, questions like these are really questions of how strong our faith is, and faith cannot be measured in simple human terms. It is a gift from God and is capable of overcoming all human discovery. However, I firmly believe that as Christians we should spend more time and energy loving our neighbors than we do trying to bully them into converting. If we really treated everyone the way Jesus commanded, everybody would want to be a part of it.

If it was without a doubt, which is almost 100% unlikely, then I'm not sure what I would do. I never sit around thinking of what I would do if my belief was destroyed because that would not be very faithful. I hope that answers your question, and I didn't even use scripture. :)

I'm willing to answer anything else you wish to ask, just add details to your question and I'll try to check back on this question.

"if" is the biggest word for a nonbeliever.
The Word says that Jesus ascended in to heaven. Nonbelievers have spent the last two thousand years trying to disprove Jesus and His claim, to no avail. Now a movie director makes claims that has no validity, since His background has no backbone in Biblical history.
Same stuff with the daVinci code. Claim it as fiction but throw it against the Christian faith, with very little substance.

that's just the thing. Science and faith don't mix. Science means proving or disproving something they're supposed to believe no matter what. So if science proves something, they don't care because they already have their beliefs. If it disproves something, it's not true because they already believe different. And if another scientific possibility is introduced for them, it's blasphemous to even consider such a thing. You can't win with people who will not budge from what they already believe. You can call them closed-minded or really model religious people.

I answer many scientific questions, as science makes a lot of sense to me. Again, this is a hypothetical question, so it will insult people. If they found Jesus' bones that would make Scripture invalid, which it isn't, so why do you care if we say that?

I stand on solid ground
