I want a powerstroke....?

Question

I want a 2007 f-350 powerstroke 4X4 4 door white hehe... I love the truck and I am not to sure how they are or dont really know awhole lot about them...No I do not want one to pull things, I dont want it cause I need it.. I have 2003 F150 excab now and I love my truck, just want to go bigger and badder.. I am wondering if somone who owns one can give me the ups and downs, and the last thing I would like to know how much different on a day to day driver they are then the one I have.. I

Umm I dont tow again lol, and I just kind a put around town and take the kids to do there things. I am also a pretty small women if that helps you all get the picture of why I WANT THE MONSTER TRUCK lol... thanks again

Well for starters congragtulation for wanting one of the best trucks in the world, and even more congrats for wanting a diesel. Here is what i would do though. One don't get the f-350. Get you the 250. It will ride better and be considerably less money, and seeing how you just want one to drive you don't need all that load capacity anyways. And forget the brand new ones, go back a couple of years and get you one that has the 7.3l engine. It may not have the power of the newer ones, but they run better in my opinion and don't have the problems associated with the newer generation powerstrokes. I know what you mean by wanting a big truck i love them, and in my opinion anything less than a 3/4 ton is just a car with a bed anyways. But you will be much happier in an f-250 over the f-350. They are exactly the same size only the suspension is heavier and stiffer in the 350 to give it a better load capacity. If you want the 2007, I don't know what to tell you, i ain't messed with the new engine yet, but for god sakes unless you want a dually, go with the F-250. Once again you will be much happier in that, trust me.

2007 power strokes may be hard to come by. We stopped making them in Dec 06. We started making the 08's. They are a big improvement with the diesel engines but Ford and Navistar have an argument over covering warranty on the engines and I just heard that Navistar is going to stop delivering the engine until its settled. So I guess we'll be building gas engine ones until things get ironed out.
After reading your question, I think you may want to reconsider your choice. It may be better to get a super crew F150 with the 5.4 3 valve 300hp gas engine. The diesels are much more expensive to maintain, with the gas filters, oil changes, and oil filters. I have a F-150 King Ranch 4X4 and I love it. Take a look at a F150, I think you'll be happier in the long run.
I'm pretty sure in the coming years all the Fords will look the same, the only difference will be in the suspension and power train. All of the body panels will be the same from the F150 thru the F450.

Normally they are good trucks... but a 6.0 powerstroke is kind of a weird puppy... in that you have to maintain them pretty regularly for them to stay right (and it's some money.. oil change every 5,000 miles is about $69.95 compared to $25 for the f-150) plus the people who have the best results with them got to roll them a little like they stole it (it's not a soccer mom engine)

I love driving them (I work on them for a living) and it's got more power than that f-150 but the fuel bill is about the same (actually the price is higher since diesel is higher) and maintaince is higher... the parking lot manuver with one can be bad with them (try parking one at wal-mart geez)

Unless you have the extra bucks and really really want them or have a reason, I'd stay with the f-150.. if you want menace, put a body lift kit or Fabtech lift kit (if 4x2)/ many lift kits available for 4x4 .. on the truck with some great wheels and tires and get the menace look you want... (I know the 4x4 superduty trucks I sometimes have problems getting in without the running boards and I'm 6 foot 1)


The 6.4 haven't driven one, but they are a lot quieter than the 6.0.. but there are questions on part availability and new trucks as International is in a P***ing contest with Ford over payments international owes Ford for early production 6.0 screw ups

What about waiting for the 2008 SuperDuty to come out? There's the new F-450 which not only raised the bar, it through it right out the window...slam dunk. Most powerful trunk in it's class, with a towing capacity of 24,000lbs. NOT that you need it. But a new 6.4L Powerstroke Diesel is the new engine which features Peizo Injectors.

I agree with gearbox1. Unless you have a legitimate NEED for one, DON'T BOTHER. You're ASKING for problems, if you decide to purchase one for YOUR intended usage. As nice as they are to drive, they will be nothing but headaches to you, unless you intend on towing HEAVY loads, or putting it through severe use. It sounds stupid, but the 6.0L Powerstroke is a very complex powertrain. Putting it under heavy load on a day-to-day basis, keeps all actuators moving through their full range of travel, and reduce the problem of carboning up EGR passages. For you to purchase one, will be an EXTREME waste, and overkill. Like gearbox1 says, it's not an everyday "soccer mom" vehicle. As, for the 2008 Powerstroke 6.4L twin turbo, yes I've driven one. And yes, they are much quieter, but again unless you have legitimate use for one, I wouldn't bother unless you want headaches. Hope this helps.

PLEASE PLEASE Do not buy the 6.0 Powerstroke!! I speak from lots experience with it.Wait for the new 6.4 to come out!!Please read the answer i gave to this person about the Powerstrokes!!
