I bought a bag of broccoli florets, cauliflower florets, and baby carrots. I then ate about half of this bag with ranch dip, which is obviously its intended useage (as in crudites at a party). Now I'm wondering...was I wrong to assume it was prewashed? I am worried about food poisoning! The question is: Would you worry?

I wouldn't worry, but I would wash my fruit and vegetables even if they said ready to eat. I don't know how clean the person or machine was that filled the bag. Next time I suggest you wash before you eat. Just poke a small hole in the corner of the bag if you are on the go and run cold water on the veggies for a couple of minutes. Then enjoy.

I would not assume that a bag of mixed veggies is washed if it has come from the fresh veggie isle in your local grocery store. These bags have tiny little holes in them to let the veggies breath so that they don't go moldy quickly. And no matter what germs of any type can get through these holes.

Cooking(high temperature)kills germs. If you eat sth raw, always wash it twice. Don't expect anybody else can do that for you. Machine washed veggies are supposed to be clean, but how about the plastic bag? Does it have a plastic smell or sth like that ?

I would assume that it would be, but you don't know where it's been so i would wash it before using it just in case. and also, if you wash it the salad stays fresher. That's what I suggest. I wouldn't really worry though. Theres no point of getting all wound up. I hope that helped.

They are prewashed, but there is still a small chance for contamination. It is usually a good idea to wash raw veggies (even packaged) before eating.

Don't worry, everyone will probably be ok. But from now on you should make sure and wash them WELL. It is nearly impossible to get them absolutely clean but you can sure try. I have heard of salmonella being on lettuce, I don't trust any factory to do a good job.

If u r not sick, don't worry about it BUT, I would in the future wash anyway because I don't think they remove all the pesticides with just a little spraying.

I wouldn't assume it was prewashed but I also wouldn't worry. I generally don't care I mean, if it kills me, so what? My life isn't all that great and worth living anyway. Besides, it's vegetables. The likelihood of them leading me into Hell is nil to none.

I would assume that it had been washed. But I would wash it anyway. Ilegal invader mexicans might have touched it. You have noticed the increase in food poisoning since more and more invaders have shown up.
