The calories you take in must equal the amount you expend.
Start by eating smaller portions and eat alot of fruit and drink alot of water. Cut down alot on your carbohydrates and pasta and eat more fish and chicken. Try to cut out white refined sugars and caffeine and alcohol. It's a whole lifestyle change. Not just a temporary eating change. Good luck.

Exercise is a good way to lose weight... it helps speed up your bodys metabolism which is what will burn the fat......
If you're looking for a quick fix and don't really care about the long term effects, try Atkins diet. It works, you lose weight without exercise, but when you stop the diet you gain weight back fast... Take it from one who knows!
If you don't mind doing some exercise but dont' want to sweat, try doing Pilates or Yoga.... I picked up MTV Pilates a while ago at Walmart along with an exercise mat and at first it was hard (cause it's a lot of core muscle work AKA: Abs) but after a while it was easier and even fun.

The low carbohydrate lifestyle (not diet) is the best healthy way to loose body-fat.

DO NOT count calories or amount of fat. Just avoid the bad fats (trans fats and saturated fats) but you can eat a lot of good fats:

1) Olive Oil: mops out the bad cholesterol from your arteries;
2) Fish Oil: gives you the fundamental Omega 3 which helps your immune system, avoid heart problems, enhance your brain functions etc...

Also avoid the simple carbs (sugars, SODAS, white breads, cakes, cookies, pizza, pasta etc...), they go straight to your tummy and butt. Eat more of the complex carbs (whole grains, dark breads, vegetables of all kinds etc..)

If you could add to that at least 30 min of medium motion exercise a day (fast walk, slow jogging, elliptic machine, steps, rowing, swimming, etc...) you would accomplish your goals much faster.

If you add some large muscle exercises (machines with weights for the legs, lats, abs etc.) you will burn more, because strong muscles will burn energy even while you are sleeping.

Try it.

Eat well...
Go to bed before 10:30 pm.

And instead of eating fastfood or junkfood or drinking soda (never eat or drink diet/fat-free/low-fat/low-sugar/etc, it's full of chemicals and can actually make it harder for you body to burn fat, plus it causes a slew of other physical problems!) Eat healthier, organic when possible, put less sugar in your tea's or coffee's, eat plent of raw fruits and vegetables. Eat lean meat. Do not over eat but, do eat. If you have access to a nutrionists see one.
Do NOT go to sleep after eating go for a walk instead.
Do not give up everything you are used to eating- your system will in a sense go into shock and actually gain weight.

That may halp you lose some weight but not alot.

Excersice by doing some workouts at least for 30minutes such as walking, yoga or aerobics or riding a bike. At least three or four days a week. It gets oxygen flowwing to the muscles and the rest of your body helping your heart and body get into better physical condition...

1. DRINK A LOT OF WATER.
2. eat breakfast at 6:30 every morning
3. keep your heart level up for at least 2 hours/day
4. eat lunch consisting of fruits and vegetables and meat at 12:00pm
5. eat a snack at 3pm of fruit
6. eat a light supper no later than 6:30pm.
The reason that I say start at 6:30am is because it will stimulate your metabolism and the earlier you eat, the more breakfast you can eat
The reason that I say at least 30 min of aerobic exercise/day is because the longer that you keep your heart rate up the more energy you burn.
The reason that I have put you on a schedule of times to eat is because this schedule keeps your metabolism up. The later that you eat supper, the more likely that the calories that you consume at dinner will turn to fat.
I suggest a lot of water because it has no calories and it aids the digestive process. I suggest fruit and vegetables because they do not have many calories and they digest easily.
Eat nuts in the morning because they are difficult to digest and will keep you full longer.
Good luck getting into shape.
By the way, if you run for at least 30 minutes/day you can go out to eat 1 time per week.

Give it a month to start to see results. You will lose more without the going out to eat thing. Also, stay away from alcohol

I found a great way to lose weight fast and keep it off. I do body cleansing. I lost 13 pounds in 9 days and then 28 pounds in less than a month. Cleansing will help the body get rid of impurities. Impurites come from a lot of things like fast food, pollution, food additives and preservatives etc. The impurities get stored in the fat in our body. To shrink the fat, we have to get rid of the impurities by cleansing. This made sense to me and I decided to try a cleanse program and it worked. The weight came off fast and this kept me motivated to keep going, not like other diets where the weight loss it too slow. With out exercise? I wish. Cut back on carbs and... well EXERCISE !! Every movement you make is burning calories. So the more movement you do the more you burn. So don't look at it as exercise look at as moving your body to a new you.

Diet and exercise baby! Straighten out your mind, stop emotionally eating, find physical activities you enjoy and your body will reflect that.
