Does my last name need to be on the registration papers? I got him at a pet store (I know "puppy mills" but I love my dog regardless and he is perfect) and his breeder is registered with America's Pet Registry. I am filling out the papers to register him but I'm not sure if I am supposed to put my last name on actual registered name or do I just put his name?

I'm not 100% on America's Pet Registry, but i know with AKC and CKC people sometimes put their last name, but sometimes not. What you want to do is make the name unique. That's why you can't name your dog "Jack" or anything normal, because when breeding, there can't be the same breed with the same name, so bloodlines don't get confused. I work at a pet store, and some of the puppies sires and dames names are Clark's Lucky Ladybird, and Dogwood Hills Big Man. I've also had friends with registered dogs that didn't have a last name in their registered name. Baron von Tripp was one of them. So really, it's up to you, as long as you come up with something unique, you don't have to worry about your last name.

Don't waste your time sending in those papers. They aren't worth the paper they are printed on.

APR is used by people who want to say they have "registered" dogs when they either don't, their dog was sold to them with limited registration meaning any litters from that dog can't be registered, and of course puppy mills.

Thanks for supporting the suffering of hundreds of dogs as well.

You're name? Usually, just the dog's name goes on his papers. If the breeder allows the kennel name, you can put that in part of his name. If they have not allowed this, you can not do so.

with AKC reg. you only have 26 letters and spaces to use. you can use any thing except bad words on it. i have never heard of American pets registry. i should have instructions on the paper. if not then ask the store if they can help you.

HI,
NO YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PUT ANY PART OF YOUR NAME ON THE PAPERS, YOU CAN BE AS CREATIVE AS YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE, WHEN i NAME MY DOGS (DACHSHUNDS) i TRY TO PICK A NAME THAT YOU WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO FORGET, REALLY IT DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU THINK WOULD BE GOOD FOR THE CERTAIN DOG, YOU ACTUALY DON'T EVEN HAVE TO USE THERE CALL NAMES ON THE PAPERS, BUT MAKING HIS/HER NAME UNIQUE IS BEST, SO IF YOU CAN THINK OF SOMETHING THAT CONNECTS WITH YOU, lIKE i HAVE A THING FOR FLOWERS, SO I USE FLOWER NAMES ON MY GIRLS PAPERS,
HOPE THIS HELPS
Marcy:)
