Not tough enough, I had 1 D.U.I. 5 years ago and havn't had a drink since, I think it should have to be standardized equipment on every vehicle to have the blow and drive device installed, that would stop a lot but not all. My charge cost me around $5000.00.
That was a stupid costly night out. My advice to everyone dont drink and drive.

My hubby went out drinking and driving lota of times and he even noticed if you suck on pennies it gives the breathalizers a false reading. 2yrs ago he was in a very bad accident, completely destroyed the car and then was charged with failing to remain at the scene because i just couldn't turn him in to the cops even though i should have. I have been hit twice in my lifetime by drunk drivers and twice i was lucky enough to escape unharmed. I have even walked 6miles when my hubby said he wasn't drunk and made him pull over and i walked home 6miles and 4months pregnant. I think the laws should be tougher and i can tell you that if my hubby ever drinks again i will not be so nice as to not turn him in, he no different than the next guy. If he comitted a murder i would turn him in so why not with alcohol i wish i had been thinking that way 2yrs ago. I also cannot begin to tell you the financial hardships he has put me and the children through just by his acts.

They aren't tough enough.

I was convicted of a DUI a few years back, and it was easily the worst mistake of my life. I lost my career in Air Traffic Control (I work at the Home Depot now), I am ineligible for the kinds of jobs I want, and worst of all; I could have hurt or killed innocent people. Despite what it did to me, I deserved it. I later thanked the cop who pulled me over, and haven't drank since. The laws SHOULD be tougher, so maybe other kids wont destroy their lives like I did, and think twice before taking such a worthless risk.

I should have known better you know... I still remember when I was a kid and my dad lost his youngest brother to a drunk driver. His name was Michael, he was 16.

The laws for drinking and driving are ridiculous. They definitely need to be much more strict with it. You should get one strike and thats it. Putting someone elses life in danger should have greater punishment then what they have today. Its not right what drunk drivers get away with.

Those that are guilty of drinking and driving are pretty crafty when it comes to driving drunk. I think drinking and driving has cost us way too much, in my opinion its one DUI and go to jail and no license ever. Regulate the DUI people like they do the sexual predators--probabation, reporting to an officer of the court, reporting where you live and when and if you move.
