In a nuthsell, Ares contains spyware. It is that spyware that is slowing the connection and downloads. In time, it will also slow your computer.

Download it, install it, update it, run it then follow the directions. Afterwards, remove Ares and consider purchasing your music.

Buying CDs gives the following beneifits:

Costs the same as buying the individual tracks from iTunes.
Is already on CD, so no need to compile and burn later.
Includes the jacket insert, which usually has lyrics for the songs.
Is legal.
Ripping to MP3 is protected under the Fair Use Act, so long as you do not share those MP3s.
The artists can now buy their fancy buses and put on the nice concerts we all love to go to.
You don't run the risk of the RIAA suing your butt.
