My daughter just came home from a friend's house and they were celebrating Christmas. Her friends' family said their religion celebrates Christmas for the next five days. She said their religion is "Ba Hi" (I am probably spelling it wrong, but it sounds like Ba Hi") I am just curious about this religion because I have never heard about it before. Thanks for any info anyone may have.

Do you mean Bahá'í? It's an offshoot religion from Islam, sort of like the Mormons are to Christians.

"Baha'is celebrate the festival of Ayyam-i-Ha each year from sunset on Feb. 25 to sunset of March 1 as a preparation for the Fast, which begins March 2 and ends March 20. During Ayyam-i-Ha, members of the Faith perform acts of charity, give gifts to friends and family, and attend social gatherings."

It seems as though your friend's use of the word "Christmas" was not in reference to the birth of Jesus, but used as a religious holiday equivalence. Ayyam-i-Ha is when members of the Bahá'í Faith exchange presents like Christians and secularist do on Christmas or Jews do during Hanukkah.

Actually, it is Baha'i and the holiday they're celebrating right now is: Ayyam-i-Ha, which is an end of the year celebration (based on the Baha'i calendar.)

The Baha'i religion contains parts and beliefs of many religions. It is also persecuted by many.

Baha'i. they believe that every god is just the manifestation of a single god and every religion is just part of a single religion. and it's a bit selfish of Christians wanting to keep Jesus all to themselves.

Christmas is a Christian holiday, so they wouldn't really be celebrating Christmas.
