I have not seen anyone bruise that badly, it sounds like he might have been holding your arm too hard or pushed to hard with the needle. It could also be you, do you take alot of aspirin or Ibuprofen?, Do you drink alcohol often? Do you take medications of any kind? Your blood could be thin which would promote bruising (bleeding under your skin). He should buy "practice" skin. Tattoo shops use it to train apprentices. It is nice of you to help him but maybe you should not let him do any more tats on you until he is more adept. I think maybe you should let a doctor check your arm.

I bruised really badly when I got mine, I couldn't even put any clothes on it (it was in my pant line). The swelling never went away, you can still feel the outline of the tattoo when you touch it. The bruising goes away after a while, just try not to aggravate it!

different people react differently to the tattoo process. you're more likely to bruise if the tattoo is over a very bony area, you are very skinny, you are a vegetarian, or are anemic. it could also be a sign of infection if the equiptment wasn't new or autoclaved before use, or he was recycling ink. is he apprenticing at a tattoo studio under a professional artist, or is this an at home on his own endeavor... if he has not had proper training in the techniques he may also have had the tension on his gun wrong and ended up just beating the heck out of your arm trying to get the ink in. keep it clean and, moist using lubriderm lotion or tattoo goo, and if it continues to give you problems consult a proffesional tattoo artist or doctor.

I think it really depends on the person. My friend who has 6 tattoos never bruises ones. While my brother who just got a tattoo himself bruised so badly it looked like someone punched him with a block of bricks. So I think it really depends On the person.
Also easy bruising is a sign of low iron I believe.
- Peace.

No its not supposed to bruise that bad, he probably went too deep with the needle and blew out the lines, which means eventually most of the lines will get thick and blurry...plus you need one machine for lines and another machine for shading

well, it sounds like he isn't an experienced tattoo artist. i have never bruised when getting a tattoo. i guess it is possible if someone bruises easily but it sounds like he may be digging in there. i would refrain from volunteering until he gets better.

I got one on my hip and it never bruised. Maybe it's different on your arm. I don't think that's right though. You might want to go see your doctor.
