The basis of the Bible is this:
-You are stil judged on what you do, even if you are a believer. Once you become a believer, you must stop all willfull sinful acts.Yes, God will forgive you for past bad deeds if you TRULY repent (and He knows), IF you make a commitment to devote your life to him and change. You cannot become a Christian and then decide it's ok to murder you mother because God will "forgive" you. You will NOT get into heaven.
-God does expect us to sin, and we are judged based on the sins we have commited after death. Obviously murder is not in the same category as swearing. We are still judged though, and I bet some will be turned away if they knowingly commit sinful acts while claiming to be Christian.
-As you point out that there is "no motivation" for athiests, that is a very good point. Funny how most athiests make a big deal about being a "good person" as this is the only chance we get. Each has their own view, I suppose. On the other hand, if athiests have a choice of being "doomed" or "saved" with the same efforts, why would they knowingly chose doomed?
-Good works ALONE do not get you into heaven. Period. You need to be a believer.
-Also, you have made a good point. Many (but there are exceptions) people who commit violent and horrible acts are NOT Christian. They DON'T have any morals or reason to NOT do those things.
The Christian faith is actually quite simple to understand if you think about it. The phrase "love thy God" and "Honor thy neighbour" really sum it up in a nutshell.
Peace.

Please Cloe, I know that This is Hard to Understand (the Real Way it Works).
Takes alot of Study and Praying so on.
I will Tell you This, if you are Born-Again and turn to Evil and Wickedness and Don't Commit the Unpardonable Sin:
No. 1 Being BornAgain will not keep John Lawman from Arresting you.
No.2 If you sin Enough AFTER your BornAgain, you Will Leave the Earth Early.
Would take too Long to Explain Everything.
Just know This Please---NOBODY Gets Away with ANYTHING.
GOD is Right and Just.
Sincerely Hopes This Helps.

Seeing that it is God that calls and saves I would say that He is the one who sifts.
Sometimes, I get the feeling that people think it is Christians that save people. It is not. We are only the people that were saved. I feel that it is the highest form of love to try to share that with another human being. I know that this is not possible. I think that all I can do is present a request to the Lord.
Trying to tackle a person and trying to instill in a person something that is of this high level, is impossible.
I have tried to put this into words the best way I can.

Okay, I'm a Methodist, so if you honor some other denomination you might be better asking your pastor, but here's my answer.
No. If he did, Satan would be in heaven because who would believe in God more than him? The New Testament is a fine example of how Jesus wants us to lead our lives. "Love God your father with all of your heart, with all of your mind, and with all of your soul; and love your neighbor as yourself."
The Sermon of the Mount is an excellent source for who will make it to heaven. Matthew 5-7 (This will only take about fifteen minutes to read).

"IF the wisest most powerful creator doesn't even care to differentiate between the most evil deed from the most charitable, why in the world should we care and what exactly then IS morality based upon?"
Perhaps, the most evil deed of all is not acknowledging the existence of your Creator?

Yes. The bible says there is a time coming when God will separate "the sheep from the goats", meaning, believers in Jesus Christ, and unbelievers in Jesus Christ.
You must remember; it is not based upon your works that you are saved from destruction. The bible tells us all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. We will be judged on one thing: who we say Jesus is. If you repent of your sins (and everyone has sin), accept Jesus as your savior, you will be saved. A person who will not do this, will not be saved.
To answer the question about behavior, a born again Christian has been born of the spirit. This means that God begins a work in that person and, again, as the bible tells us, He desires to make us over into the image of His son. Therefore, a person who loves Jesus will desire to do as He says, and will submit themselves to God for His use. Not believing in Jesus doesn't mean you can't be a good person. But as to the motivation, that is up to the individual.

This is why I do not side with a religion. I have my own spirit inside of me to be a good person. I don't need to go to church to live my life in a good way. I feel like if that is all true, and the most evil believer will be chosen over the most good non believer, then I don't want to go to that heaven. I do not need to go to a church to talk to the God of my life, and I don't need to prove myself that way. I'd rather act it out in real life than just talk about it in church.

Paul called himself the worst of all sinners.
If God chose him, how would you answer to the Almighty?
Jesus said that He did come to bring division, two against three, and three against two.
Think about that for a few secs.
In the message to the Laodicean church, Jesus said He would vomit the lukewarm believers out of His mouth. These are people He cannot help or change. This also signals separation of the flock.

Friend, you have got it all twisted.
If a supposed Christian has an attitude "well, it doesn't make any difference how i live my life" then they are not a true Christian.
A genuine Christian strives to be Christ-like, recognizes the need to obey the word of God, and lives his life accordingly through the power of the grace of God.
That is the only type of Christian there is: one who follows Christ.
you got some bad information somewhere....
