Soda, probably because of sugar and caffeine. If you drink a non-caffienated, diet soda, you're probably okay, like Sunkist Diet Orange, Fresca, or Caffeine-free Diet Coke.

Just drink them in moderation. I have a cup of coffee every morning and I drink sodas. I have 3 boys and Im 36 weeks with my 4th and all my children are just fine. 300 mg of caffeine or less is considered moderate and most cokes have around 25 mg and a cup of coffee has around 100 mg. Got my info from the news the other day because they are wanting to put the mg of caffeine onto soda cans now, so that pregnant women and parents of children will know how much they are consuming.

Tea contains caffeine and tannic acid. Coffee contains caffeine and many sodas also contain caffeine, all stimulants which are not good for you but are especially bad for the developing fetus. Worse is the fact that sodas contain a lot of sodium which may cause water retention, elevated blood pressure, all bad for you and baby. Better to err on the side of caution and simply avoid them.

I would stay away from the caffeinated beverages. Caffeine is the main reason to avoid these types of drinks. Too much caffeine is associated with a higher risk of miscarriage, it dehydrates you, etc. You can drink stuff like sprite, decaf coffee, and decaf tea. Be careful with the herbal teas though, and be sure they are safe to drink during pregnancy.

The reason they say that is because of the caffine in them. Caffine speeds up babies heart rate just like it does yours. My OB told me that 1 soda and 2 cups of coffee a day was a good limit on caffine. Ask your OB at your next visit! Also a really good book to help answer questions between visits is what to expect while your expecting! good luck!

Yes, caffeine in moderation, especially if you've been a caffeine addict. Also, avoid artificial sweeteners. No diet soda or Splenda in the coffee. Artificial sweeteners have been linked to premature and low birth weight babies.
