OK, my son had a bald spot appear which I thought was a reaction to some meds he started about 4 or 5 weeks ago *this was a rare side effect listed in some study I found online*, so I called the pharmacist for some advice and he said it sounds like scalp ringworm....can anyone give me some more information on this? We had a cat until about 2 weeks ago since Christmas but she was up to date on all shots.....Confused and Concerned mother needs help please!

As a healthcare provider I can tell you that your son has Tinea Capitis. The problem of having it in your scalp as opposed to having it anywhere on your body is that on the body it can be cured with the dilligent application of prescription creams. Tinea Capitis needs to be cured with oral medication. I recommmend a consult with a dermatologist. The oral medication for Tinea Capitis is usually not recommended for children, so it would take the knowledge of a dermatologist to be able to handle this medication with your child.
