If you are trying to lose weight here is a good idea I use. On those weeks where I only lose one pound or a half pound and its so discouraging I go to the grocery store. Go to the butter section. Pick up two sticks of butter...thats one half pound. Or pick up four sticks (that one pound) and actually look at what that means in fat lost. It's motivating to look at all that butter (which is 100% fat) and know that this is what your efforts produced....and suddenly it feels alot better. Try it.

Keep thinking that it is good for you. Do you want to go back and gain all the weight you lost? A healthy diet will provide you with long term results and may prevent many diseases in the future. Think of the future and when you feel like eating, try working out, yoga, or get out and do something else. Don't give up.

OK ask your self HALT before you eat. Am I -Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired. Then do the appropriate thing for what ever it is. If you are hungry do SAFE-Stone Age Foods Eat. Raw veggies, fresh fruit and whole grains are filling and they burn more calories than they put into your body. Think of food as fuel for a machine-you would not try and drive your car without gas. Do not attach emotions to eating-just think in terms of fuel for the machine and keep it always over half full. Then you will succeed!

I would think, you need to lose weight first but in a way that you can enjoy it.

So shoot for [ideal caloric intake - 20%].

Take habits that nobody around you has, so that you won't feel tempted to eat their food... example: eat organic, or soy stuff, or low fat, 6 meals a day and the like.

Cook your own stuff, make it fun. The challenge is, cooking low fat AND tasty. Don't fill yourself up with those AWFUL celery sticks, carrot and tasteless stuff like that. It makes you feel like forgetting the diet LOL

Eat raw fish or broiled/grilled fish/chicken, add 1 teaspoon of flaxseed oil with herbs, sesame seeds, some multigrain crackers /bread (loads of essential fatty acids, lean proteins, whole bran carbs).

Learn how to bake your own wholebran muffins, cakes and pancakes, as low in calories as possible but very tasty. Eat loads of angelfood made of wholebran flour, splenda and eggwhites (to minimize carbs, keep the taste and eat proteins).

Cook with wine and herbs. Don't fry, steam and broil with herbs in the mix so that your food tastes and smells good and appetizing. Add nuts and pine nuts to your salads.

My point is, if you make it fun and entertaining, you won't have troubles sticking with it.
