The color shows how strong the tea is. If the color is lighter, the flavor is weaker and softer. As the tea gets darker, is becomes stronger and brisker. It all depends on what kind of tea you prefer. I prefer somehting in the middle, slightly darker that a honey brown.
I also believe that 'Sun Tea' is a myth. You can produce the same tea on your counter top in your kitchen, just start with hot water and let it sit for the same amount of thime. If you want to speed up the process, put the jug in the fridge. The convection is the key to creating tea, no the sun. It is harder to add the sugar to cold tea though, so you can't leave it in the fridge too long.

A darker color would be a stronger tea.
I would like to point out however that this method of making tea is NOT RECOMMENDED.It is possible for bacteria to grow when tea is made this way. The Center for Disease Control has reported cases of people becoming sick from drinking bad tea.
If the sun tea looks thick or syrupy in appearance it could be bad tea.
Why take a chance.

Neither just depends on the strength of the tea...if you like a flavorful tea you want it dark ....the longer it stays out in the sun the darker it gets...if you like light tea it just not as flavorful....and I like mine dark with lemon....Good Luck hope that helped some.....

Depends on how strong you like your tea. I usually bring it in when it is a medium dark color as I don't like real strong tea. As soon as I bring it in I add a cup of sugar per gallon of tea and refridgerate it. That is a slightly sweetened tea.
