The thermostat was invented in 1885 by Albert Butz and is the first known example of process control methodology. This invention was the genesis for what is now Honeywell corporation.

A guy named Butz, the he was going to call it the butomatic but some weight loss invention already had a patent under that name.

It was invented by a man named Floyd Thermo.
He was a basement tinkerer who worked diligently every night for 17 months to perfect his invention. Later in life he invented the vacuum bottle for keeping hot foods hot and cold foods cold. He was quite the genius.
