First you could find the answers to this on the newsgroup rec.aviation.piloting

I dont know about the others but a Level D is a full motion sim. Where you have motors that will move the chair your sitting on and a full panel with all the working gauges and switches.

Typically, an FTD is a training module with usually no or very limited visual displays and no motion. The primary purpose of an FTD is to learn where all of the switches and indicator lights are on the flight deck. Much, much cheaper to operate.
A Full Flight Simulator is usually full motion and provides a simulated evironment which teaches how to fly the aircraft through all phases of flight and most major emergencies. Very realistic simulations.
The levels indicate the level of feedback the FTD or FFS provides to the student. www.faa.gov might have more information as to what feedback justifies which level. Good Luck.

Without actually doing some quick internet research, in simple terms one is used for learning either general or type specific procedures, while the other replicates the flight characteristics of the real aeroplane.
