Mom my has been diagnosed with advanced breast cancer. Her cancer has spread to her lung, liver, kidneys, etc. She has finally started chemo, but it isn't helping. She is in a lot of pain, and highly medicated. Saturday, her ex-husband who she is still seeing took her away while I was at work. My sister was home, but did not say anything. She told my Aunt he made her go to his house in another county. I feel he is incapable of taking care of her because he is an alcoholic. What can I do?

I would talk to her doctor about this. There must be some kind of formal regulation regarding a family member's care. I think her doctor would be a good place to enquire after this serious concern. If no luck through this avenue, call your local police department. They will connect you with the proper legal resource if not handled directly through medical channels.

While your mother is sick she might and probably isn't able to think logically. you can look into some body becoming her p.o.a. (power of attorney) . that person over sees decisions that she might not be capable of making herself. contact an attorney or you might even be able to do it at the hospital that she is being treated at. ask to speak to a social worker at the hospital. Good luck and i hope she is safe. I did this for my son when he was in the hospital with cancer just for the simple fact that he was so drugged up all the time, it would have been so hard for him to understand eveything that was going on.

I don't like this at all. If your mom didn't want to go with this guy, he could be charged with kidnapping and maybe even wrongful imprisonment. You would do better to talk with a lawyer about this.

Good luck! I know a few slimes who would do things like that for spite, or as part of their little power-plays.

need to go to his house with the police and discuss if she want to be there or not and if she has the mental ablity to make that decision.

if so and she wants to stay - not much you can do

if she wants to leave etc; you can talk to her about who is going to be the medical advacate - this is a legal thing and who is in charge of her medical decisions if she is incapacitated.

if she is not "sound of mind" then you got a lot longer road to go

If she cannot take care of herself then she needs a guardian-a legal guardian and family can be appointed by the court. Then you can get her back and get a restraining order against him.

You need to contact the police and explain your concerns. If she is there against her will, the law will take care of him.
