depends. where do you want to marry? if in mexico, you need to get married and then he files for a spousal visa and you wait in mexico for 5-12 months and then come to the US.

if you want to marry in the US, you need a visa. do you have a tourist visa already? if so, use it to enter, get married, and then go back to mexico and wait while your husband files the spousal visa. again, 5-12 months. **but you MUST go BACK to mexico, if you don't, they consider that entry fraud and they get really pissed and may not approve your spousal visa.** if you have no visa, your fiance can apply to get you a fiance visa. it takes about 5 months. after you get it, you can come into the US and marry as long as you do it within 3 months of getting the visa. then you can stay in the US while he refiles for the spousal visa, but you are not allowed to work.

the benefit of skipping the fiance visa is, although it takes a bit more time, when you do get to the US, you are ready to work and do things as normal, rather than sitting in the house bored until you have permission to do stuff.

and the fact that he is a war veteran doesn't mean anything, won't help.

You will still have to have the fiancee visa to enter the U.S. Then once you are here, you'll have 90 days to get married on that visa. Once you are married, you need to file a "change of residency status" to become a permanent resident of the U.S. Then you can get your citizenship if you want. And if you intend to work when you get here, you will also need to apply for employment authorization. Oh, and the American citizen has to petition the U.S. government for the fiancee visa.

Depends where your fiance lives... but if he's living here in the US, and you marry him while you're still in Mexico, he can later file a family petition with the Immigration Service here in the States, which can take anywhere between 6 to 8 mons. for it to be approved. It will then be sent to the National Visa Center where they will let you know what other steps to take. It could take anywhere between 1yr. to 1 1/2 yrs. for you to be able to immigrate, give or take...

Hope this kinda gives you an idea... good luck!
