Actually I am fluent in both Spanish and Italian....you know one you pretty much know the other. Same for Portuguese and to some degree French (Latin/ romance languages) However, I would say Spanish will be easier for help is readily available. And I would even say, Spanish is more useful... Have fun and dont be intimidated by it.

Spanish will probably have a larger department and more teachers; I bet the Italian department at your college is one or two people. Talk to somebody in the Italian department and try to determine if you'd want to take a class with that person as a professor. Otherwise, go with Spanish.

I'd say that Spanish is a marginally easier language to learn, but neither one is terribly difficult for an English speaker to master, especially for three semesters.

Spanish is definitely pretty easy, except for the subjunctive mood use. Italian is a lot more "beautiful-sounding" though. I'm actually learning Italian right now and the main difference is...there's practically no one to practice my Italian with, and yet if I want to practice my Spanish, I just have to go to the foreign language hallway (where the Spanish professors are!) or over to Wal-Mart. However, I've decided to stick with Italian because I would really like to travel to Italy in the future.

Out of those two, most likely Spanish. I speak both, and Spanish was easiest for me. However, I learned it when I was very young.

Out of all the languages, however, I think the easiest language to learn is Dutch, or another Germanic language. They are very similar to Engish.

well, you picked two very similar languages. Either one would be good and would make learning the other that much easier. Personally, I would stick with Spanish. I think its a little easier than Italian (Just a tiny, little bit) and it will be more resourceful for you when you're out finding jobs.

Spanish and Italian are about equal difficulty, Spanish will probably be more useful in your everyday life after college unless you move to Italy.

I was going to say Piglatin is really easy. But they won't approve that one in college. Spanish has 5,000 words that we use in the English language so you have a head start on that one.

If you're not from the States, your best bet is probably to learn English.

Spanish, definitely! It's pretty easy and the most useful.

Esperanto. It won't do you any good in real life though. If you want something you can later use, take Spanish.
