God is omnipotent (all-powerful) and omniscient (all-knowing), so it isn't possible for him to be incapable of preventing suffering, nor is it possible for him to be surprised that a certain action of his would lead to suffering. At the very least, even if it is logically impossible for some reason for God to have created the universe without suffering, the Problem of Evil still remains a thorn in the side of any such theology because it is always possible for God to have chosen not to create anything at all; in such a case, God, being perfect and all-good, would be the totality of existence, making all of existence infinitely superior to the post-creation existence. This means that, no matter how inevitable it was for evil/suffering to arise in creation, God still could have prevented such evil/suffering and thus furthered the good more by choosing a different course (e.g., not creating at all).

Noooo, I disagree with your assumption. I don't think that the cruelty in the world is a rational explanation for the disproof of God. Why? Because most theists believe that we have free will. And with free will, we are free to love, hate, kill, or give birth.....whenever we want. To take that away or to try and stop it would be violating that free will, now wouldn't it?
No, I don't believe in God......but I don't believe, for completely different reasons. Maybe you should ask the atheists here why they don't believe instead of telling them what a few atheists believe.

I'm a buddhist and most buddhist don't believe in a God, i believe in a higher power of some sort, but i don't understand him and he is cruel because when a seven yeard old get raped by her father, God shouldn't do anything about it? what has this inoccent child done to deserve that? of course there is pain and suffering, karma (what goes around, comes around) but there are some people that DON'T deserve to suffer.

You only believe "God" exists because you read it somewhere, not because you actually experienced literal "proof" to support the notion. Centuries ago, before science, people's superstitions were the "answer" to things that were unexplained at the time. If there was an eclipse of the sun, people believed it was because magical deities were angry. It's amazing that people today still apply these ancient fairytales to their lives.

So even though Christians say that God can do anything, you're saying he can't? If he's so powerful he should have no problem making everyone in the world happy.

In what way would eliminating birth defects in new babies hurt people already living? Your argument makes no sense.

Then it isn't god.
Supreme being means making everything perfect.
There is no perfection in your scenario.
