A hole shot win is when the car with the fasted elapased time did not cross the finish line first. your reaction time to the green light is where this is figured. .000 seconds is a perfect reaction time. this means you left the stage beam at the exact time the light turned green. the timers don't start counting your elapsed time until you leave the stage beam. So if I had a reaction time of .050 and my elapsed time was 6.60 seconds and you had a reaction time of .000 and your elapsed time was 6.64 seconds this would mathmaticly (SP) put you ahead of me at the finish line by .010 seconds. Since my elapsed time was faster than yours but you took the stripe before I did, that would give you the holeshot win.

Each lane is timed individually and the clock doesn't start until you hit the throttle and break the staging beam. You can leave the line before your opponent and get to finish line first despite your opponent running a faster time. That is called a holeshot. Other types of racing give slower cars a handicap start to make the races more competitive. That's how the slower cars can win.

That's when you don't drive quite as fast as the other car, but beat him anyway because you left as soon as the lights changed, and he was just a little slower getting moving. The car that moves first after the lights go green is said to get the holeshot. If this is the only reason he wins, it's a holeshot win. Remember, drag racing starts timing the race from when the lights go green, not from when the car starts to move.

there are so many things other than the fastest car to factor into it. One of them is the reaction time. They are both really small and the numbers sound fair insignificant but a good reactiontime can set you up for a win. The 1st answer on this is about the brackets that do dial ins. Obviously not all brackets dial in. Thats when it comes more and more down to reaction times and set ups. The brackets that dont dial in. Like top fuelies go flat out all the way to get the fastest they can. Brackets that do dial in have to try and srick to that time and may have a computer onboard that doesnt let them go over that time. It is really complicared to explain. Try and go to a meet and it all makes sence. Thats how i worked it all out. Its easier when you are there.

In drag racing, A holeshot win is when the driver with the best elapsed time (that usually is the winner) loses to his opponent because his opponent had a much better reaction time. The Opponent got a holeshot win.

getting a significant advantage off the starting line. The other driver gets "holeshotted" or "left at the tree"
means you got the best start at the beginning
When a driver reacts quicker to the starting lights to win a race against an opponent with a quicker e.t.(elasped time)The time it takes a vehicle to travel from the starting line to the finish line.
