It could make them sick. Sometimes kids are lactose intolerant, and it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for three siblings all to end up with it. If you're worried about their calcium intake, talk to your pediatrician about vitamins, pediasure, or other options.

Many times a child refuses an item because there is a potential issue with an allergy and their little bodies know it. It could also be another persons comments that they are passing on (say Dad or Granparents...maybe even yours?). They may also perfer another type of milk...say 2%, skim, or whole!

There are many solutions that are non stressful for both you and them! (I am a milk hater myself!)

Get powdered milk. Add it to soups, meat loaf, gravies, other drinks, etc. Don't forget cheese, yogert, etc. as they are just as good in content. You can also get calcium fortified orange juice! And of course there are some good multi vitamins out there. And also how about chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry milk? How about a "purple cow?"
That is;
4 oz. of milk
1 tbs of un-diluted purple grape juice (3 tbs if mixed)
1/8th teaspoon vanilla
1 tsb sugar
mix well, and kids love it!
And how about smoothies??? In a blender mix fruit or fruit juice, ice, and milk...do the mix to taste.
Banana's go well with orange and pinapple juice and milk.

Also, remember how little they actually need! They don't need five 8 oz. glasses per day. If you are unsure you can check the food pyramid on line or call your local WIC (women, infant, and children's) office 1-880-WIC-forU.

And don't stress over it. It is usually a simple phase your children are going through!

kids can be picky about what they eat at that age 3 and down.
You can encourage them by buying small packages with cartoon caracters on it or perhaps choccolate milk, banana flavor...strawberry.Introduce only one new food at the time.If they don't want it, leave it, and introduce it next time.Be crative. If you want them to have milk for calcium properties, get them milk in cereal or make something like smoothie, they're more llikely not to like the milk when they see it it's just milk, but when they can't they might be tempted to try. Just don't give up and don't push them-b/c the way kids are they can sense it and will avoid it even more.Or if the oldest kid said no to milk, the youngest one will try to copy.Instead, try more creative ways to get them their milk.Good luck and hope it helps.
Also, don't try introducing for example 2 new foods same day, instead get something you know they like and 1 new food and don't be discouraged if they won't take it right away, they are more likely not to want it at first few attempts but will later. In the mean time get other foods or supplements for calcium until you find a way to sneak milk into something or for them to accept plain milk.Remember, kids like the stuff they know, and yes, they will try to copy other sibling any time they have the opportunity.
Also, rule out allergies and intolerance by mentioning it during doctors exam.

one of mine does too. He will never drink it. The other started to drink it when she was 4. I tried a few different varieties. Turned out she hates full cream milk so loved low fat. Don't use chocolate milk etc. it is not good for the teeth or their weight. Use these for a special treat now and then. If they don't like it don't worry, use yogurt and cheese to get the calcium into them.

I don't know, but maybe they're thirsty for water? My kids actually love soy milk, and it's a healthy substitute for cow's milk. So are yogurt, mozzarella cheese and some ice cream now and then! Try blending milk with a little sugar, vanilla if you have it and half a frozen banana (peel it and wrap it in plastic wrap before you freeze it). Chocolate milk is very popular in my house, and you don't have to use very much chocolate syrup to satisfy little ones. Same with strawberry milk. Good luck.

They may be lactose intolerant. Truth is, milk isn't a necessity. Move on to other healthy drinks. Plenty of water and a good diet is what the body needs.

smile I was a child that hated milk. Its thick it smells terrible and it doesnt taste good. Unfortunately, i stil dont drink it but i do cook with it like in mashed potatoes or cheese. I am not lactose intolerant but i gag almost instantly just at the smell of milk. try to get them to eat cheese and calcuim rich veggies like dark green leafy veggies... please dont make your kids to drink it. try soy which i am sure they wont like that either but make sure they get calcium in ther daily diet like vitamins.

I don't blame them, hate it myself. But it's something that their little bones need.Although I would limit it,have you tried adding flavour? Also there are formulas in the baby section of supermarkets that are a good supply of calcium, iron etc..Check those out..Goodluck!
