My son takes Metadate medicine and has recently had a bald spot appear. Doing research, I've found that bald spots are a rare side affect to the medicine. How do I know this IS what's causing it and what do I say to the dr? Would you go ahead and continue the child on the meds until you are able to talk with the dr?! thanks!

Don't take him off- call the doctor and speak to him about it.
You can also call your pharmacist for more guidance but he/she will tell you call the doc at this point!:)

Tell the doc about the bald spot and follow his/her advice. I would continue the medication you see the doc if this is the only side effect.Bald spots can also appear as a result of stress/anxiety.

I would put in a call as soon as possible and make sure that you explain the situation to whom ever you talk to. If your son's doc has a nurse you can discuss this with do that. If not then tell them your son is showing a reaction and you need to talk to the doc as soon as possible. As for stopping the med I would consider waiting until you confirm it with the doc as it may do more damage stopping it if it needs to be weened slowly. If the doc is not available you might consider a walk in clinic or if your really concerned take him to the ER.

If it was me or my child, I would stop taking it immediately & speak to the Doctor straight away!
Just tell him/her that your child has a bald spot appearing & you think it might be the medication. They might be able to prescribe something else.
