If I'm going to be having braces for a year and a half, how long will it be (on average) before I start noticing a change?

I didn't notice a huge change until near the end of the process of wearing braces. Other people noticed pretty early, though.

Also, if the orthodontists said you'll be having braces for about a year and a half, that could be false. It's not always the case, but it has been a lot (like with me).

Some people notice a change in as little as a month or two. Just relax and let the braces do their job.

Within about 2 months you will start noticing changes. They usually say that in 6 months your teeth will be "perfectly" in place, but you need to keep the braces on for the rest of the time so they will stay in place.

Good Luck!

I just got braces a week ago on the top and it sux for the first cupple of days but my teeth are already almost straight. The orthodontist said they should be where they need to be in a month or two, so it doesn't take long at all

About a month or so. The first three weeks will be a little uncomfortable . You will love your new teeth in a year and a half. This is money well spend. Make sure you get floss threaders and clean properly every night. VERY IMPORTANT

You will notice a change immediately because of the pain. You'll be reminded that they're working every time the doc tightens them too, again because of the pain.
It is definately worth it to have straight, good looking teeth though.

It took me about 2-3 months which is normal. But dont worry, after you put it on for about 2 months, it will feel like theres nothing there and at the end of the day, when you look in the mirror, you will be satisfied :)
