Yes, you should shampoo, than just a bar soap, shampoo gives your hair things that it needs, were bar soap can tend to dry out your scalp and lead to other problems. Hair needs the gentle cleaners of shampoo, along with vitamins and if your hair type is oily or dry shampoo better addressee's those needs.

soap is damaging to the hair because it has a high pH. hair and skin have a pH of 4.5-5. the shampoo you use should have a pH around 5. most soap has a pH of about 8 or 9. water has a pH of 7, and even that is drying to your hair and skin

I had a boyfriend who not at all washed his hair with any type of cleansing soap or shampoo. He would in simple terms rub it and comb it by (truly thoroughly) below the bathe. He had a fine looking head of hair, it became thick and smooth and it didnt scent in any respect.

Hi. using soap once may have worked but in the long run your hair will be severly damage. i recomend that if your not wanting to buy shampoo bacause it expencive you should find a homebrand shampoo it still works and its not going to damage your hair like soap bacause it still has all the hair nutritions that your hair needs

Shampoos are pH balanced, and contain special moisturizers and proteins to promote hair health.
Regular soap would dry your hair and scalp out.
