This is a wonderful cake that looks just like a giant hamburger.

1 (18.25 ounce) package chocolate cake mix
yellow paste food coloring
brown paste food coloring
3/4 cup prepared chocolate frosting

DIRECTIONS

For hamburger patty, spread top and sides of 9 inch chocolate cake with chocolate frosting Lightly press all around sides of cake with folded paper towel, pulling towel straight out to create rough edge of burger. center cake on top of bun bottom.
For cheese, arrange orange fruit chews in single layer on microwave-safe plate. Microwave on High 10-15 seconds or until slightly softened. With hands, press and flatten chews together to form 9 inch square. Place on top of hamburger patty. On work surface sprinkled with granulated sugar roll out 5 leaf-shaped gumdrops to 1/8 inch thickness to form 1 large lettuce leaf; repeat rolling with 6 more gumdrops to form another leaf. Arrange over cheese near edges of burger. For tomatoes, roll out red gumdrops individually to 1/8 inch thickness. Arrange over lettuce around burger edges. For onion rings, roll out white gumdrops to 1/8 inch thickness. With round cookie cutters or sharp knife cut out circles; cut 1/4 inch thick rings from circles with small cutters. Re-roll scraps to make additional rings; arrange rings over tomatoes. Arrange fruit-slice candies over onions for pickles. Pipe red and yellow icing around edges of burger for ketchup and mustard.
For bun top: If necessary, trim bowl cake so that it will be flat on the bottom when inverted. Invert firm paper plate onto work surface. Center bowl cake, trimmed side down, on top of plate. The best thing you can do for a kids birthday party (if they're young kids) is to forget about baking a cake, and set up a make your own sundae table instead. The kids will adore it.

If the kids are older, make a cake that everyone will like (think marble cake...chocolate and vanilla).

ice cream cup-cakes in a cone!!!:) heres how:
first mix up some vanilla(or whatever flavor you like) cake mix(boxed kind is good) like the box says. get some ice cream cones and fill them each up about half way with the cake batter. put them on a baking sheet and bake them for however long the box of cake mix says(or until you think they are done) and let them cool. when they are cool, put a scoop of whatever flavor ice cream on top of the cake filled cones. you may add any decorations{icing, sprinkles, whip-cream, cherries are all good} or whatever the kids want to do.
i love these and they are so fun to make! i hope i helped

Most people tend to choose something sweet and (while of course your kid will want a cake) I find that savory foods usually go the quickest at parties. Try plates of crackers, cheese, and salami; black olives & pickles; mini cheeseburgers; veggies with dip; taquitos; chips & salsa; mini bagels; peanut butter on celery, etc. The kids will enjoy the food, but you won't have to deal with a house of sugar-crazy kids until cake time.

Usually sushi and cabbage soup. They don't each much. Helps keep them slim. Also not so many kids show up at the birthday parties anymore.

1 cup cold water
1 tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed
56 Mini OREO Bite Size Chocolate Sandwich Cookies
6 TEDDY GRAHAMS Graham Snacks
5 ring-shaped chewy fruit snacks
4 bite-size fish-shaped chewy fruit snacks

PREPARE and bake cake mix in 13x9-inch baking pan as directed on package. Cool completely. Invert cake onto large platter; remove pan. Using a serrated knife, cut and scoop out a shallow rectangle from center of cake, leaving a 2-inch border of cake on all sides and a thin layer of cake on the bottom. Reserve removed cake for snacking or other use.
STIR boiling water into dry gelatin mix in large bowl at least 2 min. until completely dissolved. Stir in cold water. Refrigerate 1-1/4 hours or until slightly thickened (consistency of unbeaten egg whites). (Or, see Tip below for quicker set method.) Pour thickened gelatin into center of cake. Refrigerate 3 hours or until set.
FROST borders of cake with whipped topping. Decorate with remaining ingredients as desired to resemble a swimming pool. Store leftover cake in refrigerator.

KRAFT KITCHENS TIPS

Fun Idea
Insert bite-size fish-shaped and octopus-shaped chewy fruit snacks into gelatin "pool" before refrigerating for an added treat!

Shortcut
For a quick-set gelatin, simply add 4 cups ice cubes to the dissolved gelatin mixture in place of the 1 cup cold water; stir 8 min. or until gelatin begins to thicken (spoon drawn through leaves a definite impression). Remove any unmelted ice. Pour thickened gelatin into center of cake; continue as directed.
