How much are driving permits in the state of illinois?

I had mine but i lost it, and i was wondering how much they are, and if you need them when you take your driver's test at the DMV? THANKYOU!

Uh.... I live in IL, when they give you the permit, theres a top part to use and bottom part to keep. If you loses top part, it will cost you $5, if you lost both, you just have to reapply with $20 application fee... no... you dont have to take the test again, go to some secretary of state office, they have your files on record.
