Yeah, but the truth is funnier.
I went to Saudi Arabia some time ago, and they had just built a swimming pool to get gold in the 1996 olympics.
The local mullahs had come allong and complained that under islamic law, a man is considered naked if not covered from the knee and elbow, so they were invited to design suitable swimm wear for the swimmers at the pool. They also said that a womans naked if undressed from the ankle or the wrist, so they should swim in the veil.
The Sheiks came back and said, that swimming in the veil would be dangerous, so they should put up signs warning the woment of this fact.
The Mullahs came back and said, that women and men might touch in the pool, so they must have seperate days, to stop this happening.
the sheiks came back and said in the first week, the men would have four days, the woment three, but in the second week, the woment would have more days than the women, and this would hurt the pride of the men, so it was agreed that the men would have four days each week and the women three.
But the Mullahs came back and said that once a onth the women are not clean, and thus if the men swam in the pool afterwards, they could not go and pray afterwards, thus the water would have to be changed in between each session.
It takes three days to fill the pool, in a country that has a water shortage, thus the pool is still unused, and the Saudis have no olympic gold.
