I think Joe is a pretty popular name for a horse. And I know of 3 horses named Sadie. And 2 named Daisy. There's a few named Cody. One of my favorite horses is named Trouble and I like that... it's funny because he's like the greatest horse ever and no trouble at all. All the really popular names are the common boring ones.

oh yeah... ever since Black Beauty, a lot of chestnut mares end up being called Ginger... i forgot about that one.

belle, windy, sandy for mares
Rusty, dusty, stormy, red, blue, ect for geldings and stallions
Names seem to go on color alot
A bay named after bays: like chesapeak ect
Sorrels: named red or ginger or rusty
Weather or Nature: lighting, sandy, stormy, cloudy, dusty, smokey
summer, autumn, snowy, misty, shadow, willow, ect
Names also follow registed names like if a show name is "Big Bears Bonnie Blue" bonnie became the barn name or "Windy Hills Beach Music" windy became the barn name "Miss Impressive JT" Missy became the barn name, "A.S.K Sandstorm" Sandy became the name
If your trying to think of a name just try to get to know the horse and see what comes to you. Make it something your happy with and happy saying, your horse won't know the meaning of the name but they'll know the tone you say it by. Sally is better than here Stupid, ect.

I used to have a horse and I named it Elbow. It had blue eyes. It died a long time ago but I think that is a good name from a horse. Elbow

Well, when I was little before my father died we had some horses and the most popular of them was Joe, followed by Ay-rabb (an Arabian of course) and then there was Ginger, Charlie, April and Comanche.

I think it depends on your point of view.

My horses name is Ocky. lol Yer, I didn't name her. My old pony's name was Little Cloud. I've found that Misty is a very common pets name. There's tonnes of names but why would you want a common name? Be Unique! =]
