For dinner, take him to Harry Caray's restaurant. He'll go nuts over all the stuff in there. You can eat in the bar or in the dining room.
After that, depends on what he likes - a comedy club, or a blues bar would be fun. If you want to go a little retro, take him to the Redhead's Piano Bar and act like Lauren Bacall in To Have and Have Not.

If you are looking for something that has a party atmosphere try some of these places:
Carnivale, Sushi SambaRio, Nacional 27, Rumba or Green Dolphin Street. These places are stylish and good for dancing.
If you want a great steak place try Gibsons or the Chicago Chop House. Some less known places are the Saloon, or Kinzie Chop House.
If you want truly high-end dining, look into Charlie Trotter's; Alinea or Tru.
There are many, many other great restaurants, but this is a good start. Look them up on Metromix and see if any of these are what you might like.

I've never actually been to Chicago before, but maybe you could take to him a restaurant that has special meaning for the both of you. Like the first place you ate together or went on your first date.

Always wanted to do the Signature Room on the 95th floor of the John Hancock. That seems really special, although maybe he ought to take you there instead. :-)

It is so much more special if you make dinner, even if you mess up! try this super romantic, easy dinner (& make sure your boyfriend is watching when you prepare the meal!)
**Pan Seard T-Bone Steak
1 1/2 pounds bone-in T-bone steak
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon canola oil
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. A half-hour before cooking, remove steak from refrigerator.
Heat a large skillet over high heat. Pat steak dry and season generously with salt and pepper. Add oil to hot skillet and when it begins to smoke add steak. Reduce heat slightly and cook steak until browned, about 4 minutes on each side. Transfer skillet to the oven. Roast until an instant-read thermometer inserted sideways into the steak registers 120 degrees F for medium-rare, about 6 to 8 minutes. Transfer steak to a cutting board and let it rest for 10 minutes. Cut steak from the bone and carve meat across the grain.
**Grilled Baby Vegetables
6 baby zucchini, halved lengthwise, 1/2 pound
2 to 3 baby eggplants, thinly sliced lengthwise, 1/2 pound
12 baby portobello mushrooms, criminis
1/2 lemon, juiced
2 rounded teaspoons Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons grill seasoning, 2/3 palm full (recommended: Montreal Steak Seasoning blend by McCormick)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, eyeball it
1 large clove garlic, crushed
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
Preheat a grill pan, indoor or outdoor grill to medium high-high heat. Place the vegetables in a large plastic food storage bag. Mix dressing ingredients in a small bowl, stream in the extra-virgin olive oil and beat dressing with a fork. Pour dressing into the food storage bag and seal bag. Coat the vegetables evenly with dressing then grill vegetables a couple of minutes on each side until marked and tender. Arrange on a small platter.
**Sgroppino (Italian cocktail)
1 cup chilled Prosecco (Italian sparkling white wine)
2 tablespoons chilled vodka
1/3 cup frozen lemon sorbet
1/4 teaspoon chopped fresh mint leaves
Pour the Prosecco and vodka into 2 Champagne flutes, diving equally. Spoon a scoop of sorbet into each flute. Sprinkle with mint and serve immediately
**Fondue for 2
11oz. bag Dove Dark Chocolate Miniatures
1 cup heavy cream
Fresh strawberries, shortbread cookies, pretzels, bananas, marshmellows
In a small pot, heat the heavy cream to boiling. Unwrap the DoveDark Chocolate Miniatures; place in a bowl and pour the heated heavy cream on top. Let the mixture sit about 5 minutes; stir to make sure the chocolate is melted.
Can be made in advance and re-heated when ready to serve.
