I have been in law enforcement for over 5 years now and Im ready for a change. Ive realized that I just dont have the interest in this profession that I once did. However, I have a college degree in Crim. Justice and my only work experience is investigations. All the private industry jobs that I applied to havent called me back. Am I underqualifed or overqualifed?

What type of jobs are you applying for in the private sector? Are the skills you have now, transferrable to a different job/career? Are you expecting a higher rate of pay than the norm? Professions and their rates of pay vary quite alot from city to city, perhaps a move is in your future, making a career change is something a person should really understand the pros and cons of. Your age could play a part also, even though they can't ask your age, they can get a good idea by looking at other areas of the application, and your responses to questions. Good luck.

I would say neither. It may be that your resume isn't showcasing the abilities you have and showing potential employers how your skills relate to the outside world. It is probably like transitioning from the military. You have a lot of skills but the civilian vocabulary to describe them is so different you sound like you are speaking a different language. You probably have a lot skills that qualify you for something you would enjoy. You might have to get something in security or a related field temporarily though while you learn skills that will help you get a job you really want.

Where are you located? I'm in mid Missouri not alot of call for a PI here.
St.Louis and Kansas City are another story.
You may have to look for a larger market

Have you contacted the potential employers and asked about the status of you application? With ZERO information about what they are looking for, it is not possible to know how your qualifications stack up against their needs.
