My cat got out the other day and she was in heat and ended up hooking up with a male. I never had her fixed cause she never went out. I am 99% positive she is pregnant and I am owrried that having kittens at 5 years old would end up killing her. Any advice to ease my worries. She has never had kittens or hooked up for that matter.

If she has any serious then it may be a problem but if not then i don't see why it would kill her. i had a cat that was only 6 months old when she had kittens and she only weighed about 9 pounds. she was tiny. We were SO worried that she would die. She was fine but very weak after wards if that happens to be a problem keep her in for a couple of weeks so she wont get into a fight with another cat outside or anything. if she got in a fight and was too weak then she wouldn't be able to defend herself.
but as long as she is in good health it wont be a problem.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Now is not the time to think about this. you should have had the cat fixed when she was about 6 months old, whether she goes out or not. She has been having an awful time of going through heat for 5 years, for no reason. And meanwhile not fixing your cat early on can cause major injuries to a cat's kidneys as they get older. I lost a cat at 7 years old, due to kidney problems caused by my not having her fixed early enough.

She is probably not too old to have kittens, but do you want her to have a litter. If you do not want her to have the kittens, take her to the vet and the vet will spay her for you. Sometimes they cannot tell if the cat is pregnant, and they will just go ahead and spay her. At any rate take her to the vet and you can make a decision based on what he tells you.

Yes, she can have them...but there are other issues to consider.
feline leukemia is rapidly spread (and deadly) through intercourse among cats...keep your cat isolated (if you don't get her fixed immediately) and have all the babies tested (including mom) before re-homing them..you can end up infecting another persons cats if they aren't tested.
Please, there is no reason not to get your cat fixed (prior to having kits, or soon after weaning)..even if a cat is never exposed to a male, non-fixed females have a high rate of breast cancer (yup, it can happen) and ovarian cancer...not to mention psychological issues they have to deal with having to do with going into heat every month and the fact that unaltered cats don't statistically live as long as their altered counterparts.,
(besides which cats are escape artists esp. when in heat)

She will be fine.
Some vets will spay an animal after it comes out of heat even if it did get bred. If you are worried about her, that might be an option.

If this was just the other day, get her spayed now before kittens develop. Unspayed females are also 70% more likely to get cancer.

I think if she was in heat she could get pregnant.
