If the bible was written almost 2000 years ago. Why is it that you were warned of what was to come but didn't change it? If God gave you prophets that told you the future, why didn't christians unite and stop the devil in his tracks? Why would they let the world come to wreck which it is today?

Bottom line God wouldn't destroy the world if there was nothing wrong with it.

GREAT question!!!

Unfortunately, there are too many 'feel good' denominations out there that deny everything the early church said.

Well, i am not real intelligent and i am not a christian but i would like to make a comment to this.

For one thing, you are asking current christians, not those that were warned 2000 years ago why they did nothing to change what went on in their world then so things could be better now? I ponder this and it seems to me that there is more evil in this world than there are people who worship and follow Christ and they are persecuted now as they were 2000 years ago, kinda like it seems you are doing now....so it makes it very hard to change the direction this world constantly moves towards.....

Furthermore...from the little i do know about God.....he rules the spirit world and satan rules the world. God is not the one who is going to destroy the world, sin is going to destroy the world...and sin is made by man...not God.

Almost 2000 years ago man was sinning and has continued to do so. This man that christians believe in called Jesus spread the word about peace and love and goodwill to fellow human beings....now how many people do you know that you could tell this to today and would say to you..." your right man, that is totally cool, you rock...give peace a chance"...this aint the 60's...and even when it was...people had to be in a drug induced state to even think about changing this world.

don't blame christians, the bible or God dude....BLAME YOURSELF AND ONE ANOTHER.

People always have to blame someone else and when that doesn't work...they blame religion.

The world is f'ed cause we are f'ed up.

Only the New Testament was written 2000 years ago. The Old Testament was written like 4000 years ago. Christians can not change the future. It would take every single human to repent and follow Jesus in total faith and obedience. Since we are human, we all sin, so that is not possible. Besides, as I said, everyone would have to obey and repent, the non believers are not willing. So, we are stuck in what humanity made the choice to be stuck in. God simply forewarned and told us, so that we would see and have every opportunity in which to repent and obey. Also, a human can not stop the devil, it is my Jesus' name only that he can be stopped. God made the world perfectly, humankind ruined it, therefore there is much now wrong with it and yes, he must destroy this earth age to bring in the new. Jesus said...."Behold, I make all things new"

Well, I'm intelligent. Christian, not exactly.

The reason why Biblical "prophecy" isn't accurate is that it usually isn't prophecy. It's apocryphal, which means that it illuminates current events. But telling the future...nobody's been very good at that using the Bible or other sources.

Jesus said, you don't know when I'm coming. So take the guy at his word--the Bible doesn't have some secret code that actually DOES tell you when Jesus is coming back or world events or stuff like that.

Christians unite? HA! They've refused to do that pretty much since the religion started. Good luck getting that bunch to agree on anything!

The world isn't a wreck. Not completely. People could do a lot to save it even in the state it's currently in.

And how do you know God's going to destroy the world? HUMANS are the ones with bombs and satellite aiming systems and greenhouse gas emitting machines. Humans could destroy the earth pretty well on their own. Hope they don't!

Here is the real kicker. If everyone did unite to stop the devil and all the evil predicted in the bible and managed to stop it then it wouldn't happen right. Well wouldn't that create a kind of armageddon because something that the bible (which is supposedly a work of God) predicted ended up being wrong (if we managed to stop the predictions) which meant that God was wrong. If God is proved wrong would that create armageddon, because God is never supposed to be wrong.

God would not destroy the world at all...the Bible staes that Earth will remain forever, there's nothing wrong with our planet but rather the people on it...secondly, these things (earthquakes, nations against nations, kingoms against kingdoms) are meant to happen to reveal the sign that the last days are very near (the rise of the anti-christ and the tribulation period)..the predictions of the prophets are unchangable...it is written in the Bible these things that must come to pass...

That's why it's called Bible prophecy. It is going to happen whether we like it or not........We are aware of the trials and tribulations that are going to happen but if your are a true Christian, you should have nothing to worry about. After all is said and done, we will be living in eternity with God our Father no matter what.happens to the earth or the rest of the population............Man is going to destroy the world (the infrastructure and most of the population by nuclear holocost). God just won't let man destroy His elect (true Christian saints).

Intelligent Christians are followers of Jesus Christ and obedient to the Word of God.

Do you listen to the advice of your parents or grandparents?

Believe it or not the true Christians are united and worship God in truth and in spirit.

Bottom line, people who won't believe God will not destroy the world are those deceived. You would know them on Judgement Day.

Jehovah God is not going to destroy the earth, the earth will last forever. It's the wicked people living on the earth that's the problem. No earthly Man can stop Satan because he's a powerful Spirit Creature. We were all created with free will and have a right to chose what we want to believe. Jehovah God will cleanse the earth and make matters right.

In Genesis 6, god waited to destroy the earth until it was full of evil.
Genesis 6:5
Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

2 Peter 3:7 says that this present earth is being preserved for destruction.
"But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men."

Luke 17:26-30
26 "And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:
27 they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
28 "It was the same as happened in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building;
29 but on the day that Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.
30 "It will be just the same on the day that the Son of Man is revealed.

Romans 9:22
What if God, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction?

2 Timothy 2:25
with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth,

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

2007-02-27 20:21:11 · answer #10 · answered by Anonymous · 1 0

Because God is patient with His created and wants ALL to come to true repentance. Therefore, we are on His timetable which is eternal (there is no time like we know it). Plus it is written, many are called but few are chosen. In other words, many will have a chance to come into the saving knowledge of God by hearing the Gospel, but many will reject it. Jesus said wide is the road that leads to destruction but narrow is the path to righteousness (paraphrase). I feel very sad.
