''For the face, I grant, I might well blush to offer, but the mind I shall never be ashamed to present. ....when you shall look on my picture you will witsafe to think that as you have but the outward shadow of the body before you, so my inward mind wisheth that the body itself were oftener in your presence."

Queen Elizabeth sent this poem / note along with a portrait of her self to her half-brother, King Edward VI. I think that it means that she "blushes" to offer the gift and while she is sure that he will gaze upon it to remember her, she wishes she were truly in his presence instead of just there in the portrait.

The person is modest about his physical appearance but not his mind -- as the person looks at the picture, she sees the outer form--yet in his mind, the person wishes he were with the lady more often--a play on words, you see, for he's talking about body and mind in two different ways in the two sections.

Wow...that is kind of a wierd statement..seems like it could be taken a couple of ways. Here's one way...I think:

She wants to offer herself to this guy, but actually making the move is embarassing so it makes her blush...however in her mind she is not ashamed to offer herself.
So, when the guy is looking at her in reality, he doesn't have her, he just sees her...but in her mind, she wishes that he was holding her.

A stretch???

Katrina V gave an awesome answer, my take on it was that she wished they could spend more time together, that she missed his company.

This was just the ramblings of a drunk. It doesn't mean anything.
