I'm just looking to prove to my roommate that coax is an analog wire. From my information, It was not designed for digital signals, and thus can only carry analog information across it. If I am incorrect, that is fine, I'm just looking for the correct answer, which is why I am here.

Coaxial cable can carry electrons at high speed and those electrons can be used by either digital or analog systems, depending on how they were sent and how they are decoded. It is only a transmission medium; how we transmit through it is up to us. It's features work well for both analog and digital signals, although like most transmission media, 50% (average) duty cycle signals usually transmit with fewer errors.
While most transmission media can't be classified analog or digital, fiber optics come the closest. Originally designed to transmit light pulses (not constant beams), it is optimized for digital transmission -- but, with the correct transmitter and receiver circuits, it can be used to transmit non-digitized analog signals.

a wire is neither a digital nor analog.it is just a medium to carry the signals.coaxial wire is used generally to carry the electrical signals in homes, bcoz they can tollerate that current and potential.and of course, it is the nature of the signal(analog or digital).if it is a continuous wave then it is analog.if it is discrete in nature then it is digital signal.a coaxial wire can carry digital signal,but generally they are not used for that.i hope u got it.

coax is just a thin copper wire inside a plastic sheath i dont think its digital or analog wouldnt that have to be a fiber optic cable

connect the cable box to tv. then connect the output audio wires in input of home theater system. n connect output video wire from home theater system to tv.
