to grow food or flowers?
I know they can use rudimentary tools. But have they ever passed that knowledge down to their offspring?

Wouldn't we at least look more like apes if we have a common ancestor?

To Rob Diamond: Are you imply we humans are related to mice and bananas? I want to be clear on your reasoning.

It took US a looooong time before we started planting seeds. We were hunters and gatherers, as well as shepherds long before were were agriculturalists. As long as they can find plenty of food to eat and don't pay attention to the fact that where they went to the bathroom last year is where a berry bush is growing now, they probably won't start planting for a long time.

Yes, they've passed their use of tools to their offspring. It's not like birds who know were their home is, it's problem-solving.

"That have also been observed creating their own signs for things they didn't have signs for, usually a combination of two gestures."
That is so cool!

Using a spear has been recently. That takes a lot of planing. You have to make it and then hunt with it. It shows a very sophisticated level of planning.

Agriculture is a step away from that. It takes a long time so you need to plan months out. Humans didn't do it for most of our history.

And you really don't think they look like us?? The common ancestor was about 8 million years ago and I am amazed at how close we still are. We have chromosomes an muscles in our body that we don't use that chimps do. Look at how much cattle have changed in a few thousand years. Go to the zoo an watch chimps. They are so much like us that it is impossible not to see.

Good question. The Scientists claim we came from Monkeys or Apes. Well to prove they are wrong, why hasn't there ever been a throw-back. Or a human giving birth to a Monkey or ape ? Over all the hundreds of years, there has never been a human woman, who gave birth to a Monkey. It would be called a Throw-back. This is another point, that proves this theory , that we came from Monkey's , is Wrong.

Seeds, I don't know. Knowledge? Yes. primates that can use sign language have passed on the skills to their offspring.

“Unlike the other four chimpanzees, Loulis was not cross-fostered. Loulis was raised by his adoptive mother Washoe and other chimpanzees. Human signing around Loulis was at first limited to seven signs, but he picked up many more from Washoe and the other chimpanzees who
signed to and around him.”

That have also been observed creating their own signs for things they didn't have signs for, usually a combination of two gestures.

And you say "Shouldn't we look more like apes?" Well, compared to a bacteria, we look like twins.

They pass along the knowledge to every generation. That's been observed in all tool using primates. Parents even correct wrong usage.
Now that some primates have been observed using a spear for hunting, it will be interesting to see how and how far that knowledge get's spread by primates.

And if you don't see the similarities between primates and humans, then I for one won't waste my time and explain it to you.

Chimps have recently been observed fashioning stabbing weapons to kill smaller monkeys and have succeeded in such hunts. The weapons were far from "rudimentary". While they're not crafted metal and plastic, they're not defined as "rudimentary" since the complexity of the design was in evidence.

Our evolution took quite a long time. Give the apes and monkeys some more time, and they very well may be farming.

We do look a lot like apes. Limbs, feet, eyes, face shape. upright walking. (We even have the same number of toes!)

Apes teach their young to use tools, and apes have been seen hunting with spears.
