That just seems way too much.

I think that sounds like a lot..too much.....I guess it depends on where you live...but I paid around 250 for neutering and front declawing my cat. Honestly I called around...I know it's the cat's health and surgery and you dont want a "garage mechanic" for a vet but I called several reputable places around where I live and based it off of that...also I talked to other cat owners and asked what they paid and where they went and called those vets and asked about procedure and price. It requires a little leg work, but I ended up being very happy with the service and my cat healed very quickly (whether it was their care that contributed to that I dont know but nonetheless he didnt have any negative effects after the surgery). And I ended up switching all my vet care to be done at the office I got him declawed at...it really can be beneficial to call around.

I go to Vets For Less, my cat got declawed and neutered for less than half the cost of a Regular Vet Office.

Check out there site to get more information.

I'm from central PA... for my female kitten, the total cost for having her spayed and declawed was around $225. For a male to be neutered would have been less (although I'm not sure exactly how much less). I'm sure if you're from a more urban area, the prices would be higher as the general cost of living is more. Call around and see what other vets charge, but make sure that it is a reputable place. Good luck!

where i work it cost $80 for the front only or $100 for all four, and the neutering is $45. we do sedate the cats for the surgery, and they are sent home with pain meds for 2 weeks. you have to use newspaper in the litter box for 7 days, my cat is not declawed because of the fact that he does go outside and i want him to be able to defend himself. if you are seriously considering declawing, make sure he doesn't get outside. it does seem kind of cruel but the cats that we declaw seem to be fine with in a week.

You should be able to get him neutered for less than that. And visit the page in the source for an excellent article on how to stop a cat scratching furniture. It's much cheaper and much more humane, and there's no reason not to train your cat rather than getting him declawed. It's illegal here in Europe (for good reasons!), we have lots of cats and we don't have scratched-up furniture. If we can train our cats, why should y'all on the other side of the pond not be able to?

I hope your landlord doesn't require it; if he does try seeing him with some of the anti-declaw information. Declawing often causes cats to stop using the box; ask him if he prefers the carpet to be ruined? Re-training a cat to use the box is harder than training a cat to use a scratching post, in my experience.

I recommend against declawing a cat it can cause Major behavioural problems and is cruel to a cat. It's like having your fingers amputated at the first knuckle. I would recommend nail trimming I trim my cats nails 2 times a month and they don't damage anything. Also a neuter and declaw can cost 500-800 where I live it's 250 for a neuter alone.

thats sound crazy heard that . i think you should go check some where else like the grooming shop where they do neuter and declaws cats and dogs for lower prices least then doing it at youre veterinary clinic center instead. or you can also try to call some cheaper places that wont make you spend on alot of money and even save you some extras money left over .

Sounds right, we'd pay $75 for the neuter and $250-300 for declawing. You can buy rubber claw caps to put on your cats claws, just like applying fake nails but they are rubber and prevent scratching. Petsmart sells them.

It depends on where you live as to the neutering. About declawing, it is very cruel and painful. Imagine that your finger and toenails were removed. If you are concerned about your cat scratching furniture, get a catnip scented scratching post. My vet will not even do a declawing. Think about it long and hard.
