What's the point of getting up when situations keep piling up on you, beating you up, and knocking you down again? Wouldn't it be better if a person just stayed down?

A life without troubles and challenges would be pretty boring. It's the stuff that beats you down that ultimately makes you stronger, wiser, more compassionate.

It's hard to see this (much less appreciate it) when you're right in the middle of it, but after some time passes, you'll recognize how you've grown, and you wouldn't go back and erase the hard times even if you could.

Set aside some time each day - even just 10 minutes - to take care of yourself and visualize the life you want. Remind yourself that you deserve it. If you believe in God, use this time to ask for a break. Everyone needs a break sometimes.

Finally, we have the power to create our own happiness. Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips spoke beautifully about this just the other day...

I wonder about this as well. What's the point of getting up when we are all going down into the ground in the end. My only answer is that it is better than staying down.

To quote Oysterhead, which is some sort of rock band . . .

i say what the heck
gotta pry myself up off the deck
cos there ain't no cure for suicide

Sometimes it's good to stay down. To rest from life.

John Lennon said that life was like breathing in and out.

Sometimes when you are down, you are just breathing in.

Now, of course, severe depression isn't going to heal itself. Seeing a doctor when you are down can help give you the tools to get up. Medication is an option to see how that affects your mood. You can always stop taking it if you don't like the results.

Even when you are down, you can explore different things like spirituality. Sometimes if you are too caught up in the day-to-day things, then you miss the big picture. Being down is a time to look at your priorities.

Rest, relax, eat some soup, see a professional, too.

Oh no you don't..lay in that bed while the rest of us have to put up with this crap too. It's cliche, but you have to get up one more time than you're knocked down. Let see, what all has sucked in 51 years....

A divorce
car repoed
hospitialized
bankrupt
sued
jailed
Another divorce
sued again thanks to the divorce

I'll see your problems and raise you a ford truck that a mouse did $1500 worth of damage to the wiring.

Heads up, sweetie. Life gets better...then it gets worse...then it gets better again.

Because a real person, isn't affraid to confront what their problems are, get up day after day until the job is done...

You can stay in bed all you want...its up to you, but if you were to just lay in bed forever, whats the point of you living?

staying down means giving up, and accepting your a loser. i was a loser for the first 10 years of my life and had pretty much let iit be that way. but then i realized i was just as good as any one else. so i worked my way up, believing in my self every step of the way, and keeping my friends close. i tackled one problem at a time and gave it my all. now im almost at the top and everythings cool. so if you dont want to get up, its fine with me, but if you feel like rising higher, then get up and show who you are.

the point of getting up is to live life whether it be good or bad, you were put here for a purpose. Maybe you haven't figured it out yet. Try prayer and I hope things get better. God Bless

As a healthcare provider I believe you have some signs of depression. It takes the joy and motivation out of life. Things that used to be enjoyable no longer are. Talk to a healthcare provider or councelor. It's worth it. Life is not meant to be that difficult.

Tomorrows another day and maybe it will be better. Staying down will accomplish nothing. If you get up and tackle it than you can move on!! Good Luck
