Yes, you qualify for medicaid or state funded healthcare. Get it, it's not the best, but it beats having nothing at all. Don't be surprised if the physcian treats you like sh!t, afterall, you're just another unwed mother producing another state-aid child.
While you get your medicaid, apply for food stamps and housing and call the gas company and electric company and tell them of your situation, your bills could get paid too! I'm serious. I was in your shoes about 13 years ago, and I was unabash about getting all the help that was out there. I was able to go to school get a certification and worked my way up very quickly by working hard, and being smart and watching for opportunities.
My 12 year old son is a gifted musician and he has 2 younger brothers as well. I have been blessed, and you are too...remember that! A child gives you direction and something to strive for.
And if anyone gives you grief about being on state aid...tell them to mind their business, you pay taxes too!

Congratulations! I know it is scary, I was 20 when I was pregnant with my first child. I went to a "free clinic" and they evaluate how much you have to pay for things based on your insurance. I did not have a job at all but was doing a full time internship so I qualified for medicaid which basically means everything is free. If you are single, you probably qualify for a lot of assistance.... look into it, it was very helpful for me until I could make it on my own. Good luck!

I would think so. It depends on your income. Here in Louisiana we have Medicaid, but I am 19, work full time, make $1600 a month and I qualify. I just went to the local health unit when i found out i was pregnant and had to fill out some papers... you have to have proof of address and proof of income.

I dont know what tenncare is but you can apply for medicaid. Also, you can get this maternity card. It is not insurance but itll help if you cant get medicaid, at least while your pregnant.
Good luck.

Get health insurance ...... how are you gonna pay for it if your baby gets sick?!? Get medicare/medicaid if you have to. Your baby needs health insurance. Don't think you can't afford it, hubby and I only make $26,000 a year together and we do just fine.....and thats $17,000 after health insurance. It will cost you $3,000 in bills at least to have your baby if you have no health insurance. If you don't got health insurance you better have money or you're throwing your credit down the drain.
